I've thrown hand grenades, but don't see what it has to do w/ the .40/10mm debate.
I think the poster thought they were throwing a metaphorical conversation hand grenade/going to kick off a .40 vs 10mm war.

Behold what happens when a 180 gr. Gold Dot impacts @ 1,300 fps:
I like chocolate, you like vanilla, and somebody else prefers strawberry. Simple preference, mostly, and perception of power. When semiautos gained more and more popularity in the late '70s, revolvers became passe, and now have made a resurgence. FBI decided to adopt 10mm, it became the best thing since sliced bread and everybody had to have one, especially after Sonny Crocket started shooting coke dealers with his Bren-Ten. Same thing happened after the limp-wristed lady agents couldn't handle the 10mm recoil and the Bureau decided to shorten it up and go to .40S&W. Now it's king of the hill and everybody wants to dump their 10. 9mm and .45 still had their fan base, but dollars to donuts those guys also had a 10mm or .40 in the desk drawer. Now .40S&W is, meh,, and 10mm is coming back big time. A few years down the road, who knows what will be the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe some spectacular advance in .32 Auto will have everyone ditching their big-bores for a pocket cannon......"It's a silly milimeter longer". What's the difference between a 40 cal and a 10 mm (.3937")?
I have neither; so I am completely neutral. Why are people hard over for one or against either?

You have no idea how much fun doing that can be. Especially if the people was vets just back from asia and it's 1969. My friends saw the humor, but I had to buy a lot of beer first.
Is the 10mm recoil worse than a 340PD? That was my vacation away from .45 ACP. It was a short one.
As above, the allusion was metaphorical.I've thrown hand grenades
I own a Glock 18 and a CZ Auto that I use often but most carry sigP226 or hk P30 these days with MK23 as my night stand.
You own a Glock 18? Really? Pictures please ...video would be much cooler
I think I want a Glock 20SF but I will not buy one until I shoot one. I would like to rent one at a range to see if I like the felt recoil in an autoloader. The 10mm interests me but I am not going to get to involved with getting set up for reloading until I fire one.
Since the FBI switched back to 9mm, neither the 10mm nor .40 cal can stop a threat any longer. That being said, now that modern 9mm is so much better, the .45 ACP is no longer capable of damage to a human. Obviously, you don’t spend enough time doing internet research. Golly.
That's true....I don't spend time researching what I don't have, and never will have. I was just curious why people love or hate the cartridges, and why one is pronounced dead, and the other alive, not the technical aspects of either.
Seems to me the OP missed the humor in the post...am I the only one who read “Golly”...and immediately saw the 2 guys in the movie ‘Airplane!’ who spoke ‘jive’ and every time they said “Sh*t” it translated in the sub-title as...”Golly” ?
in a room full of people and shut the door?
Here you go buddy:

Currently not in an area where they have an Automatic weapons firing range.
Quite unfortunate that over there in the US there are so many restrictions on owning and carrying a machine pistols, which are not more lethal then say a 500 SW Magnum hand-canon! That said, for contraptions short of automatic US is the best place to be.
He is quite correct. No grown man says “golly” and is expected to be taken seriously. Gee whiz.Hmmm.....that's a lot to infer from "golly".
Did someone mention the overpowered pistol developed in the late 19th Century?Oh and I have thrown Mk II, M26, M33, and various smoke and chemical grenades and this is not as much fun!
Nothing like "cooking off" a then 30 some odd year old grenade before throwing it! Gets the blood flowing.
I may have been underwhelmed by the 10mm because of earlier experience with the .44 Automag. All that stuff moving and doing things and an explosion right there in your hand!
I have always desired to try a Mars Pistol but no big lotto win yet...
