I’m young and dumb and NEED to put my money where my mouth is.

I’d like to join a gun rights org other than the NRA. So who is the most effective at using grass roots donations?

About all I’ve come up with:
Gun Owners of America
Firearms Policy Coalition

But I’m open to suggestions.

SAF has done more good per dollar!!! They have had their hand on all the good supreme court rulings!!!

They are a bunch of Laywer who are passionate about preserving Gun Right. One thing to note, these lawyers throw away their Law Career to fight for your rights! No law firm will hires 2A lawyers.

SAF 1000%!

I support the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation.

There are some things that frustrate me about the NRA, but I could say that about every organization I'm affiliated with, including my church. The people who most want to see the NRA go away are the antis, and they've done a heck of a negative PR number on the NRA for that reason.

Don't be fooled. The NRA is a good and strong organization and it's important we keep it that way. I've never been a life member, but an on-and-off member since my youth. I just re-upped my NRA membership for another year about a month ago.

Another that hasn't been mentioned is Jews for the Preservation of Firearms ownership. You'll still see that group by that name but they've become part of the Second Amendment Foundation.

Only one I can think of that hasn’t been mentioned is the American Suppressor Association, like others have mentioned I’d look into the state organizations.

GOA is a good organization

SAF does a lot of work no one really sees, but they have won many cases in the courts where it counts.
So true and many gun owners don't realize all the legal battles we have won at state/federal levels over the decades, especially for California because legal win for gun rights are often not covered by the media or very short-lived.

Gun Rights Orgs to join other than the NRA? ... who is the most effective? ... open to suggestions.
Legal battles cost A LOT of money in the millions and NRA-ILA (Legal arm of NRA) has pursued and won more/significant legal challenges than any other organization/foundation. So donating to NRA-ILA is the most effective in building the "war chest" of legal battle for gun rights against anti-gun crowd who have DEEP pockets - https://www.nraila.org/

Who do you think fought/funded the recent historic/monumental Supreme Court case win for Bruen that expanded Heller ruling to expand gun rights outside of home? Yup, NRA-ILA and now Bruen ruling is going to affect gun rights cases all across the country at various federal District/Circuit/Appeals courts and state courts, law enforcement agencies and even at county/city council levels. (Elections have consequences so be sure to donate to 2A supporting law makers/candidates and spread the word to all the gun owners you know to vote for pro 2A in 2022/2024)

CRPA is CA state wing of NRA and has pursued numerous legal battles (Through Cal Gun Foundation) where many of country's anti-gun laws have originated ("featured" rifle ban, magazine ban, etc.) and these cases are at the forefront of our 2A legal battle, now at national level affecting every state post Supreme Court's Bruen case ruling - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...r-aw-magazine-ban.905531/page-7#post-12358277

And California Gun Rights Foundation has been very busy over the decades WINNING gun rights legal battle in CA. Here are some of gun rights wins and accomplishments - https://www.cagunrights.org/work

More recently, Firearms Policy Coalition has been kicking some major legal butts in the manner of "Revenge of the gun rights organizations/gun industry/gun owners" to strike back at the anti-gun crowd - https://www.firearmspolicy.org/legal

And there are many other gun rights organizations/foundations that are fighting the gun rights battle against the antis but the way I see it, what's happening is like the D-Day invasion where allies came together to battle against
common enemy.

So, pick one, two or all of them to donate your money. :)

I support the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation.

Don't be fooled. The NRA is a good and strong organization and it's important we keep it that way
Divided we fall (That's what the antis want us to do ... Heck no we won't :)).

Together, we are much much stronger.

Definitely check out state level organizations. But, be careful. The Colorado organization isn't that effective. I think it's kind of a purple/ blue state thing. I can see Nebraska ending up in a similar situation.

I won't recommend this organization for membership but Jews For the Preservation of Firearm Ownership (JFPO) has good content on their website. They don't ask for money and often provide a unique perspective that most other organizations seem to overlook.

Well to clarify the “other than the NRA” is I’m not impressed with the money management to keep the head honchos in gin and stockings. But truly it’s because I’m going to have to join them anyways if I want to use my local range. It’s one of the requirements. I’m guessing the NRA assisted or assists in funding or the by laws just want you to prove you’re aiding the 2nd Amendment organizations. Either way. I’ll be joining the NRA when I get around to joining the range.

I just wanted some insight on other orgs.

While I don't agree with some things that happened regarding NRA, that should not detract from what NRA does at local/state levels to promote gun rights/gun ownership and running matches/training the next generation of gun owners from childhood and NRA-ILA at national level in legally challenging anti-gun laws and winning them so to me, money donated to NRA/ILA is money well spent in our fight against the antis.

And there are many "other" organizations for you to support to fight the good fight.

Joining the NRA is definitely not a bad thing most of us are members but if give extra money like any other organization check it out before.

As an NRA certified Pistol and Shotgun instructor, I can tell you the most important thing the NRA does is teach people to shoot. They provide funding and training to ranges and gun clubs, run matches, provide range safety officers, hunter safety trainers, CCW training, and instructor training.

You see getting new shooters into the sport, providing places and opportunities to shoot is really really important to the RKBA.

Most folks who bash the NRA are unaware of these facts.

If this turns into yet another NRA bashing thread it will be done. Let's focus on the question the OP asked.
What if it turns into a NRA cheerleader thread? If we can't have both side of the NRA controversy we are better of with neither.

The topic was, "Gun Rights Orgs to join other than the NRA?"

I like the Firearms Policy Coalition and the Second Amendment Foundation.
