How to ruin your tighty whitey

My local indoor range had a blow-up with their rental 4" 500, which was used exclusively with range ammo - I believe all reloads by an employee.

The damage is nuclear bomb level: three chambers lifted away, top strap torn completely off, cylinder pin pretzeled. I doubt whoever was holding the gun at the time made out all that well.

One - the ‘like’ is for the story, not the results…

Two - reloads for a ‘customer’…who validated this liability?

They rent the guns for almost nothing, but require range ammo be used. It comes in ziplock bags. The .500 stuff was priced per round, and last time I saw, it was $4 per. I assume profits trump liability, or did, anyway...

I agree with you 100%. Most the ranges I see renting required ‘factory’ ammo…this is the making of a change of ownership….

Man, that was violent! :what:

I’d love to find out what the root cause was. I will suspect an overcharge but that is merely a guess.
Glad the guy seemed ok after the failure of that revolver.

Stay safe.

I was sad one more Canadian gun that can’t be replaced.
