So my POF P-308 has been wearing a FAB Defense AR15 stock for a while now- its comfy and hugs the buffer tube close enough to allow the charging handle a full run, unlike the Magpul and LuthAR stock I'd tried previously. I really love this stock, but.....
The FAB unit features a well for a 10 round emergency magazine, but of course wont accommodate a .308 mag, so I cut down an old 20-round .223 box with buggered feed lips to make a small storage compartment:
It fits fine, no rattles, though its not waterproof or anything. Of course, I can put whatever goes in there in a baggie.
Now, I already keep an oiler and pair of allen wrenches (for the scope mount) in the pistol grip. I was thinking of a spare bolt, but dont know if POF will even sell one- but it wouldn't fit in the stock anyway.
Maybe just a firing pin?
The scope doesn't have an illuminated reticle, so no need for batteries. Might be able to squeeze a few loose .308 rounds in there....any other suggestions?
