Zach Hall of Aklys Defense is a wizard with an AK47, and has designed and built suppressors and muzzle brakes for several years.
He is also one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Meeting Zach is like finding an old friend.
Back when I built my 458 SOCOM AR, recoil was going to be a big problem for me. With the nerve damage I have in my neck and shoulders, all I could handle was two rounds.
I stopped in at Aklys to talk with Zach about making a muzzle brake for my rifle that would actually work. After we talked Zach said he had a design in mind and would have one made as soon as he could.
A couple of months later Zach had the prototype finished and mounted on my rifle. We tested it out and it was like night and day. The recoil was like shooting light 12ga loads.
The muzzle brake is now part of their standard lineup and named after me.
Three years ago Zach discovered that he had stage 4 colon cancer. With all the harsh treatments, Zach never stopped being the guy he was.
On July the 28th Zach went in for lab work and was admitted to the hospital. Today he went home with order for Hospice care. His wife says that he doesn’t have much time left with us.
The gun community will lose a great guy, his friends will lose a true friend and his family will lose a wonderful father.
