i have a ruger mark4 (not 22/45) and sr22. i just got a keltec p17 and took them all out to the shooting range last night. first rounds for the p17, already 2,000 for the mark4 and 20,000 for the sr22. ammo was cci (minimag and blazer), aguila super extra, federal automatch. one federal stovepiped in the mark4. a friend has a mark4 22/45 lite, which also eats anything.
the generic problem with the ruger mark series is it’s a rabbit hole of customization. my own problem is that i’m more accurate with the out of the box ready p17 and sr22.
i got a great deal on the mark4, which i wanted because my first significant pistol experience was on the original mark1 50+ years ago. in retrospect the mark4 22/45 lite is the better pistol of the two. o.p., i would not dismiss the p17 or sr22, which are both much handier to carry.
