As I previously stated-with or without the Gov’s signature the legislature can override with a 2/3 majority vote from both chambers of general assembly which they currently control.
Too damned many Commiefornians.
I always get great amusement of California bashing.Californians are blamed for the current politics in so many states, there can't be too many left in California!
"True, 2/3 of the legislature has already been brainwashed into statist socialist "do-gooder" outlooks," Terry said, consciously violating a rule about casting a distinct group of people in a negative light.<evil grin>As I previously stated-with or without the Gov’s signature the legislature can override with a 2/3 majority vote from both chambers of general assembly which they currently control.
The problem is that they are a "cancer" that has spread and is infesting the rest of the "body".Californians are blamed for the current politics in so many states, there can't be too many left in California!
I'm really getting some good laughs from these Cali bashing posts. The problem is that they are a "cancer" that has spread and is infesting the rest of the "body".
One of the benefits of a free and democratic society is that everyone is entitled to their opinion and may vote accordingly. The problem is that they are a "cancer" that has spread and is infesting the rest of the "body".
Folks seem to forget California was fairly conservative. Starting changing in the 80s.Oh, California isn't the only one. It's just kind of a "pointee" when discussing unthinking "liberal" "do gooder" socialist viewpoints. You might just as well use Illinois or NY or NJ as surrogate pointees.
In the late eighties I was seriously considering moving to CA, largely based on the gun freedom it represented. Skeeter Skelton's writings from CA had a lot to do with that. (I was also thinking of Australia.)
But both options started to smell to me.
It's a matter of "share the wealth" at most forums, although there are a few "malcontents" (aka "boat rockers") that seem to thrive on discord.
Have fun !
Democracy is two wolves & one lamb voting what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote-Benjamin FranklinOne of the benefits of a free and democratic society is that everyone is entitled to their opinion and may vote accordingly
What do you think Franklin meant by that statement?Democracy is two wolves & one lamb voting what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote-Benjamin Franklin
With the way the GOP is presently imploding, I fear that you are correct in this assessment. Too many on our side are not paying attention, spending time chiding or making fun of those of us who reside behind enemy lines while celebrating minor "victories" on the state level ("Oh look! Another state that doesn't require permits to carry concealed!") ...While totally understanding that there are anti gun republicans out there as well, at the federal level it seems we are only one house rep away from draconian gun control. Colorado notwithstanding, I fear this discussion is about to become national. We haven’t been this close since the 90’s or so.

Yes, I've characterized that as being content to sit on the back porch shooting tin cans off the fence with our .22s.
"They'll never take our guns. Did you see the reviews of that new Horfenberg .273 with the 15 round clip?" Joe said.
"That's 'magazine,' you idiot," Pete responded.
Bang! "Got that Bud Lite can that time," Joe grinned.

HAH!I'd rather be a boat rocker than a boat anchor.
However, I'll admit to seeing a number of cases of arguing for the sheer sake of arguing... almost as if they were just trying to make points with the judges of a sophomore debating club debate.

Democracy is not liberty. Tyranny of the majority is still tyranny, and the ability to resist tyranny is liberty. What do you think Franklin meant by that statement?
It will be entertaining to see if the boat floats.I just heard on the news that the bill will be going to the house floor this morning for a boat
Metaphor...It will be entertaining to see if the boat floats.
I believe the SCOTUS recently declined to hear a challenge to the IL AWB.That's a pretty broad gun ban. I'd think that has little chance of passing muster with any federal court since the supreme court has readily affirmed the absolute right of citizens to bear arms via several recent cases. .
But the language in Colorado's proposal bans most firearms, not just so called Assault Weapons.I believe the SCOTUS recently declined to hear a challenge to the IL AWB.
