Colorado Weapons Ban

I do hope for internal seccession movements where radical leftist parts of the state are carved out and ignored by normal parts. That would be Denver/Boulder in Colorado, SF Bay Area and LA Basin in CA, Western Coast of Oregon and WA from the eastern part of the states, Boston from Massachusetts, Baltimore from MD, etc.

Say, Continental Divide to line through Greeley, Monument to Owl Canyon , this area of the front range population explosion. Oh, include islands of Aspen and Vail. Guess I'll have to move to Julesburg.

Friends like Colorado in general, plan to spend the summer there out of Florida heat and humidity. Although they are gun owners, they are not much exercised over repressive legislation.

Exactly they should have made it clear decades ago that all gun control violates the Constitution. It's ridiculous that this garbage we have is allowed to go on and on. It's says clear as day that no infringements are permitted.

Decades ago, the gun issue wasn't "ripe" because it wasn't at the forefront. Prior to 1968, there really wasn't much regulation of guns, except for the NFA and some localities such as New York. The legal consensus about the 2nd Amendment was that it was a dead letter.

The antigun push after 1968 is what prompted the pro-gun reaction. And now, the wave of antigun extremism will prompt even more pro-gun reaction. We'll see what the next few elections hold.

I don't think that's it. I think (what do I know) that there are not the votes for a clear decision on weapons types and carry restrictions. Just because 6 Justices are the crotch police doesn't mean that these 6 all support gun rights in the manner we might like.
 
Interesting that one unsure vote on the Senate committee was Sullivan, father of an Aurora theater shooting victim. Makes me think he is pretty levelheaded, wanting to get to the real issues of mass shootings, rather than pursuing the tools instead of the mindsets.

I wonder how many AR purchases resulted from the panic fear of the potential ban....

Nope- They have more up their sleeves and the legal fight over an AWB could derail the "fundamental cultural change" they seek. The goal is the destruction of the armed citizenry legacy by making legal firearms procurement/ownership/possession highly regulated, tedious, costly and rare.

There are many good patriots who live in the areas you would surrender.
 
Don't have time to read all the replies, this may have been mentioned already.

Illinoi's AWB took effect on the first day of this year. It banned the possession, sale and MANUFACTURE of any weapon on the excrement manifest. Existing banned weapons were grandfathered in, but you were required to register them with the State Police. Before Pritzker even signed it almost every Sheriff and Chief of Police in nearly every town and county announced that they would make no effort to enforce it. Very few weapons were registered. There is massive civil disobedience of this stupid law.

I drive by Rock River Arms almost every day and I see their parking lot is full, so I assume the law is still tied up in the courts.

If anyone knows where this is at, please post.

And I'm not gonna tell ya!!!

For various potential reasons, the AWB did not pass in Colorado since it was killed by its sponsor before the senate committee hearing.

The fact that it was killed is good news, but those reasons you speak of may prove not to be good news. Did they realize this was a serious overreach and have a change of heart? Hopefully the the pro-2A contingent of CO folks aren't betting on that. Don't be shocked if this was tabled just so they can make preparations to take a bigger bite.

Agreed this is only a temporary reprieve out there.
I did not think that the state of Maine would end up where we are today a year or two ago. One multi location mass shooting by someone that should have been red flagged by the military tipped us over the edge. Now we have a 72 hour wait and private purchase restrictions. More to come soon as they can't control their "restrictions" as it is passed.

Why do you want to stay in a state that goes against what you believe in. That wants to hold you down and only really cares about you paying taxes.
 
There are complex processes in life and complex reasons for living in a certain place. It is a cliche to post that all decisions be made on gun laws. In most states, you can buy a useful gun for self-defense in most scenarios. Carry might be more difficult in a few but still doable.

Family, jobs, illness, etc. can weigh more than a mag ban to 10 rounds. Not to wander into forbidden areas but some states with good gun laws are horrific on other personal liberty issues.

I'm taking donations to the help me move, find a new job, and support a family of five fund. If it were only so simple as just pulling up stakes and leaving. My mom is 78 and lives here. My in laws are the same age and live here. Things I cannot simply walk away from keep me here. Sometimes the picture is far bigger than what it may seem. But it is really easy to tell some one, just move, when you have no skin in their game.
