Wow Todd, thank you so much for your very informative post on this subject. I'm not SOLD on buying one, but IF i go the route of adding an AR15 Pistol into my collection, the OA-93 may get a nod. Pricing for a complete pistol I have seen for 600-800, not sure if that ranks anywhere near a good...
Before I built my "only" AR-15 I was seriously contemplating turning the stripped lower into a pistol, but decided a nice all-around user friendly recon-styled 18" rifle was what would suit me best for that build. Fast forward to me killing time and watching the movie Clear and Present Danger...
I wish I could agree with this. Sadly I just rewatched Clear and Present Danger and have a fierce itch to get an Olympic Arms OA-93 with the quickness.
Also wanted to get a Colt Python, but Rick Grimes has pretty much ruined that for me.
Appreciate all the advice folks. I am going forward with 2 fixes. Getting that deer spray first and hitting the vegetation. Then also buying a new front door light that has a built in security motion sensor camera, for enough reasons and maybe it would also catch the idiot deer too.
That's on the long term plan. tearing up a 1' wide path outside the 'sidewalk' path from the front door to the driveway, planting a row of something like 'Bee Balm' that can look decent through the year, and act as a barrier. For now though I would just love to learn exactly when this pest...
The 3 twist rates you mentioned won't make a hill of beans difference, your bullet weight, intended target, range, optics and overall amount of practice/range time will make the most difference.
The mags... both work fine. When the D&H GI style mags are on sale for $7 or less at PSA I grab...
Thanks for the suggestions folks.
That actually sounds like a decent idea, I was debating on spending a weekend morning in my normal hunting gear sitting on the front door stoop once I get the timing of when this deer comes calling, hose in hand (until I figure out a more permanent method)...
I'm not in need of a super camouflaged high resolution camera, something more basic that is going to get mounted on my house near the front door for a night or two. I have my main garden in the fenced back yard, but there is a small 2'x2' square near my front door that over the years has been a...
This thread is so awesome. Helps those of us that don't have any land or safe places to hunt any longer.
Color me envious of those full freezers. Keep up the good work!!
Good reminder. My buddy who has a 300 blackout rifle in with his others has those magazines marked with blue electrical tape.
We both have a bit of a chuckle when he gets out that tape to mark any new mags. Movie reference for our generation :)
I'll second the Burris MTAC, can't cite comparisons between it and the Leupold VX but the package deal was a winner for me. Adding in the Ballistic CQ reticle and I was sold.
I did mine for two reasons, I had a known entry of 2 new individuals into my household who are/were incapable of wiping their own bottoms, eating their spinach, and maintaining proper firearm handling practices (working on the eldest with a Despicable Me "Fart Gun" and it's going well).
Second...
Sam making sensible statements yet again.
Everyone has the right to proceed as they so desire. You can make the decision yourself.
I personally want to get home to my family and be sure my kids have me present, so I know how I will proceed.
