Hello. Looking to purchase a used 1500 in .308, as a newbie to bolt action rifles, is it normal for the barrel in front of the reciever to be drilled and tapped? As far as i know this is stock from the factory...also looks to be heavy barrel. Thanks

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I think i am going with the 2.5" for 2 reasons- perfect woods gun and in a pinch ccw. I will then wait and acquire a nice 5 or 6" revolver for range and hunting.. If i am going to only keep 2 revolvers for right now(finances) might as well have purposes...

The hard part for me is it will most likely be a range gun, but i like the idea that i know i can carry the 686 if i like...,Now if it was a 6" barrel on the 28, that may be a easier decision because it can be a range toy, but could also be used for hunting!!!

Need help. Considering purchasing a excellent shape S&W 686-3 with 2.5" barrel, comes with box and papers. Or a excellent condition S&W 28-2, 4" barrel with box and papers and period correct grips. Both guns being equal condition with box and papers, that parts a wash. The 28-2 is $650 and...

Update Well i have the chance to pick up a Arsenal slr-106, brand New in box chambered in 5.56 for $650 invested. Is this the way to go over the O-pap or any other entry AK??? Opinions please...thanks.

Last question. Who has the O-Pap's in stock?? I am seeing places that have the n-pap but none that have the o-pap???? Way that i understand is the o-pap is the most current model and the most desirable out of the two....thanks...

So it looks like the O-pap is the way to go for that price range anyway!! Is the O-pap actually produced at the plant? Its not a mix match of parts put together here, is it??
