Well, if you handload the correct diameter bullets (find out by slugging the bore) and find an accurate load, along with free-floating the barrel, you ought to be able to produce very good results in a good Mosin. :)

StrikeFire83 - I know that you think 15 yards is good and all, but it's really, really fun to fire out to 50, 75, or even 100 yards with a snubnose.... when you realize that you're making hit after hit, it's incredibly gratifying.:)

I have a few dozen books on firearms, and there are still gaps in terms of complete history, etc. For a good start, try any of Ian Hogg's books. They're good. Also, "Weapons : an international encyclopedia from 5000 B.C. to 2000 A.D" by Diagram Group is very good and covers more than just...
