They should be threaded.
You need 6-48. (Just installed a fiber-optic bead on my 870 last week).
I think this is what you need:

Well it is not my rifle, but I think he wants it to look very sleek/clean.
Plus, when we hunt we can walk miles and miles. Every little bit of weight savings helps the shoulder.
:)
I will let him know the receiver plug screws will fit. Thanks!
Hi,
My friend has a new .270 ADL from Walmart.
He wants to take the front and rear sights off, b/c he is just using a scope.
Where can he find plug screws to fill those holes?
Exactly.
Last week at the range some guy dropped an autoloader, as it was falling it pointed right in my direction.
I had no idea if it was loaded or not, so it freaked me out pretty bad.
Ahhh, that makes sense now. The factory bead is on there pretty tight, guess I will just have to use a little more force.
I ordered the 6-48, I hope that is the size I need.
It said that is the size I need for the 870 on TRU GLO's website.
Got a 12GA Hoppe's Bore Snake at Wally World today.
How do you guys use yours? I am not sure if I should put any cleaning solution on the snake when I run it down...
Here is what I usually do:
1. Brush it
2. Run patch down with cleaning solution
3. Run dry patch down
4. Run lightly...
Well I ordered this bead in 6-48 thread. Hope it is right.

Thanks for your answer dfariswheel, but I am a little confused.
I thought the rib on the barrel was just tapped and a bead was screwed in... What is a shank?
The "bead" on the end of my gun consists of a black ring that looks like small washer with a small ivory bead in the center. Does the...
Hey guys, I have a new 870 Wingmaster (built in 2007 I believe).
It has an ivory front bead and I would like to change it out for a fiber optic bead.
Is the factory ivory bead just screwed in? How do I replace it?
I have heard it is not good to store you gun with the firing pin cocked.
If the fore-end of the 870 is pulled back (chamber open) is there still tension?
Would I need snap caps?
P.S. - As some of you know I chipped in to get a Beretta O/U for my dad's b-day.. Anywho the...
