Px4 Storm: Good? Bad?

I have Sigs and Berettas. Lots will tell you that the Sig is a better gun. Do my Sigs all shoot well and reliably? Yes. Do the Berettas? Yes.

So really both are good. You will pay quite a bit more for the Sig. Having shot them side by side they are both good shooters. My Sig P229 Legion is a far better gun than I am shooter. But it is a Legion. Shooting it upside my FS PX4 they are pretty close from an accuracy standpoint. Even with the SRT on the Legion I like the trigger on the Storm better. Course my SRT is not SRT'ing at the moment. So that means I need to send back a $1200 gun to get it to work like it should.

I have never sent a Beretta back yet and I have not rounds through them than the Sigs.

So is the Sig the better gun?
I think the SP2022 is a fine gun, but it has a short front strap that I'd expect to get my fingers pinched on every mag change for quite some time.

I think they are probably both fine. Pick the one that has the features you prefer.

I've seen some on forums speculate that Beretta and H&K have consistently done the best job with quality control. You may not like some of their features, but the guns generally ship working as they should.

The full size 9mm Px4 Storm with a Streamlight TLR-1 is my nightstand gun. I swapped the safety for the low profile Beretta ones, turning it into a Type G decocker only.

Over 1000 rounds with no problems. One time at a class I failed to seat the magazine all the way during a reload requiring a tap and rack, but that was my fault, not the gun's.

Gotta say that I have been very happy with mine. I have about 2000 ish flawless rounds through it so far. Also I believe the rotating barrel has merit. My full size Px4-Storm is the softest shooting 9mm I have ever shot, and it is more accurate than me. I'm more of a rifle guy. ;)

I've tried to like the PX-4 but can't warm up to the way it feels in my hand. I much prefer the Stoeger Cougar, which is made with Beretta machinery, and is also a rotating barrel. Never had any issues with jamming after it gets dirty. For the price it is a great gun and I have no real desire to get the PX-4 as long as I have the Cougar.

Taking my P229 Legion out of the equation due to its more custom nature, I would have to say having both Sig's and PX4's and shooting them both a lot, they are very comparable.

I tend to chose the PX4 over the Sig's due to cost. And again, I have not had to send a Storm back to Beretta, I have 2 Sig's that currently need to be sent back.

However, go handle both guns and see which one fits you best. Just be prepared to spend 50% more on the Sig.

It's best to compare like to like. What Sig is in the same price range as the PX4? The Sig would also have to be similar to the PX4, platform- and feature-wise. Regarding reliability, I've 3 Sigs that haven't needed to be repaired. Sigs are reliable enough to be compared to Berettas.

Yea, I did not mean to infer that Sigs were not reliable. The issues I need to send mine back for have not imparred the use of either gun. Both still function just fine. I am a huge fan of Sigs as I am of the PX4.

Probably best to just say the Storm is a highly underrated firearm.

Yea I would agree the Sig 2022 is a better comparison and having had the 2022 early on it would be a very close comparison.

The Sig 2022.
Yeah, I only said that because it was being compared to a higher tier Sig in Legion trim earlier. I agree that the 2022 is a good comparison (I own one of them).

I own three 9mm PX4 pistols, full size, compact, and subcompact

I currently use the full size as my night stand gun. My favorite of the three is the compact. The compact fits my hand perfectly. No problems with any of the guns. The are reliable and accurate, soft shooters, and easy to maintain.
