What deals did you score this year?

Bought a new scope at half price, picked up some bullets 20% off free shipping.

Bought someones franken AR15 target rifle at the LGS for about what the Krieger barrel in it cost and so far with reloads have developed a load that is hovering around 1 inch at 300 yds in a lead sled. And I think it will be able to be improved to be much better. Already better than I can shoot it.o_O

A friend of mine died, his son was going thru stuff, he asked me if I wanted a Lyman Rotary Slot Loading Press mounted to a Custom Frame built out of 2x2 Metal w/Roller if it needs moving. It is sweet, I'd rather have the friend, but I think of him every time I use it.

In the immediate aftermath of the Trump victory and the resulting collapse of the panic buying, I managed to come up with large quantities of .224 bullets in various configurations at between 20% and 50% off the previous selling price. This allowed me to finish buying all the reloading supplies I calculate that I will need during my retirement so that I don't have to worry about paying for brass, bullets, powder or primers out of my retirement income (which will be 48% of my working income).

About 35 years ago, in a weak moment, I sold my S&W Model 25-2 revolver. I've been kicking myself ever since, so when I came across an unfired S&W Model 625-3, with Crimson Trace grips and 21 full moon clips for $800.00, I began thinking I could replace the 25-2. After a little haggling, I walked away with it for $750.00, and the guy threw in the 6 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense ammunition. Here's what I got:

The cylinder throats all pin gauge at .4525", so it should be a shooter. Now I just have to convince myself to convert it from unfired to fired.......

Just a bunch of hard cast bullets on sale from X-Treme.

Otherwise, a couple of gun trades, but I wouldn't call them "Deals". Just good trades.

Com'on Fred WE KNOW you can do it!!! I personally would not own a firearm I could not use as intended. NO safe queens in my accumulation of firearms after 30+ years buying.:neener: I have purchased about 50 unfired firearms so far as I can recon and the first thing I do is to shoot them and smile a lot.

Oh, I can do it. It's just finding time to do it. I've got about 500 .218 Bee brass to fireform from .32-20, too. At least I've got them loaded and ready to fire. Leisure years, yeah right...........

A Ruger Red Hawk and a Model 70 Winchester in 300 Winchester with a Leopold Vari X 111 4.5 X 14 for $900. 5600# of sorted wheel weights for 40 cents a pound.

Most of you know me as the Hornady guy. Guilty as charged. Well, Hornady came out with a new Rotary brass tumbler and a new media sifter. Well, I ordered both the next day. But of course, they are on back order.

Now I already have a F.A.R.T. and a RCBS media sifter but I can't wait to test and play with them. Either way, my son in law is going to get a new way of cleaning his brass.

I snagged a case of 5,000 Federal 210 match primers.

Finding them is the main thing, but only paying $35/1,000 when they go for $50+ was a bonus
Not quite the same...actually, in my area, SP is harder to come by than LR...but I was able to snag a couple of cases of Federal 200 Match primers for $28/1k

Just a bunch of hard cast bullets on sale from X-Treme.
I went a bit overboard and got about 10k plated .38. With the discounts, only ended up costing $600, but the question is when they'll get here...everything else I've ordered this weekend has already shipped

I have been wanting to buy the Wheeler Engineering scope mounting kit and leveling levels. Got both on sale plus a few other do-dads and free shipping at Midway.

Oh man, this has been a banner year for deal shopping. I got a bunch of deals of barrels, scopes, gun parts, reloading dies ect... on Ebay and gunbroker. Some to keep, many to flip for small profit. I bought 16 guns this year and kept 9. I made a profit on most of the sold ones. My favorite is my Marlin guide gun 45-70 that I got for $350 after mail in rebate. Also got a savage model 12FV for $249 after rebate. I've gotten a lot of bullets and primers on sale lately.

Fortunately, I have a decent supply on hand to keep me busy until this shipment arrives. It was just too good of a deal to pass by.

Yeah I still have about 5k left, but this deal was too good to pass up. It just irritates me how relatively long it takes them to ship.

This should cover my practice ammo needs for a while, but I still need to replenish my supply for match ammo

Midway had (and I think still has) their blazer 40 grain .22 bulk ammo on sale. If you buy a case of 10, it comes out to around .04 per round including shipping. I bought a case of 5000 for $220.

Since the election the deals have been so good I've been spreading the savings out over the last year. Lots of cast bullets in various calibers and weights, 357 and 44 special brass have come my way. My powder supply is more than adequate with my primer supply not far behind.

My Coonan 357 has really proven the value of reloading........and with another oddball caliber like the 44 special on its way (this will be my 3rd chambered as such) I'll continue to shoot the factory equivalent of almost 75 cents a round for less than 20.

I'm really hoping that a slight resurgence in the popularity of certain antiquated cartridges such as the 44 special will be followed by an equal reaction by gun and component manufacturers.

if you didn't know this already IPhone has a built in level and works very well. I found this truck where you put the rifle in a vise, go to IPhone compass and there is a level and set the phone on the bottom part of the rings and it levels and then set scope and top rings and put the phone on top of the top turret and level as needed. I almost bought the wheeler and someone showed me this way. I still want the wheeler though. :(
