New to the CZ rimfires

I just put a Freedom Fat Trigger in a Canick hand gun I bought. Was sitting at the kitchen table working on it and the wife asks
"do you own any guns you haven't messed with the trigger?"
My answer was "why yes, I have a new 10/22 in a box on the shelf waiting for a scope."
I'd have messed with the trigger before mounting a scope. "First things first!"

Possibilities, 10 shot, 50 meter group from a rimfire challange. CZ 452 Varmint. Front bag only

The secret to shooting a perfect score is finding the size target and distance that will let you do it with the way your rifle shoots for you. (Just kidding.) Nice shooting!

I usually tune the triggers on all my rifles and believe I've done so on my 455, but have had it a while and don't remember doing it. One of the problems with the mechanism is that the trigger is held back to remove the bolt and that flies in the face of having a great trigger stop with the factory trigger. Mine's okay, but nothing great to write about.

C Zed. I saw this pointed out that it's pronounced "C Zed" on RFC and later watched a youtube video made in Australia and that was the way it was pronounced by the guy making the video. Me? I'm from Texas and it's "C Z" and I don't care how furriners pronounce it.:p

I've changed springs on all of my CZ factory triggers, which lightens them quite a bit and tends to get rid of any creep. About half of mine had some creep from the factory, the spring change made all but a couple of them break very cleanly. People report that they also get better with a few hundred rounds through them, but I didn't wait that long on any of mine to lighten the trigger. There's a so-called poor-man's trigger job (details on rimfirecentral.com) that a lot of people have compared against aftermarket triggers and against the Yo Dave trigger kit, and found to be a great solution if you have a 452/455 that still creeps after the spring change and some rounds through it.

The best CZ rimfire triggers, IME, are the Single Set Triggers that came on the 453s (453 is essentially a 452 with the SST). If you take some time to adjust the SST precisely to your liking, it's excellent, one of the best triggers I've ever used. If it's not adjusted just right to suit me, I'm not that big a fan of it and would prefer a very good non-set trigger.

New and excellent condition used 452s are pretty easy to find. 453s are more rare and tend to bring a couple hundred dollars more.

Unfortunately I did the same with a 1940's Win 75 with a 10x Liechert scope

They offer much more than other rifles in that price range. I'll get flack for this, always thought the open sights while functional, were rather box like and didn't fit the elegance of the rest of the gun.

Have higher quality rim fires that creates a higher bar in my mind for the CZ to hurdle, then again it didn't cost what those high end ones did. It's not equal in quality or accuracy....not disappointed either.

I've got a 452 Varmint in .17HMR and a 455 Tacticool in .22LR. Both are incredibly accurate and stout rifles. They are solid and fell like a centerfire. I believe that CZ makes the best off-the-shelf all-around rimfires.

The rimfire chicken shooters I'm acquainted with said the 452 and the Savage MK II were a toss-up in the accuracy department. I always liked the looks of the 452 but never got around to buying one. The along came the 455 and it gained the reputation of not being as accurate as the 452. I have always wondered if the barrel swap feature had something to do with this. Now we have the 457 and it looks as if they have gone to the Savage/Marlin style of receiver/bolt. One of the chicken killers told me a couple of weeks ago that the new 457 is proving to be very accurate. I'm sort of considering one but am going to wait a bit to see if what he told me proves out.

What Crunchy Frog says is true. There are a lot of CZ lovers there. Don't say anything negative about them either or your whiskers will get singed.
I bought a new barrel for my CZ 455 in 17 HMR, to replace the .22 WMR. This one is a heavy-fluted barrel and I like the weight for offhand shooting and carrying. I've taken to using High Strength Locktite on slip-in barrels that I replace and believe it helps accuracy, if not ease of replacement.

*I first tried it with a .22LR stainless barrel that I got from a rimfire benchrest gunsmith who had a couple of "new" barrels from his rifle that he though weren't up to par, but later discovered that it was a bedding problem. He turned one down for me to install in my Rem 581 and he did a great job.

As recommended by Broughton Barrels for Anschutz replacement barrels, instead of using crosspins to hold the barrel in place, I used the High Strength Locktite and headspace is minimal. Some ammo rims are thicker than others and the bolt closes really hard on them, but the Locktite has held beautifully, despite the high camming force needed for that brand (which I don't use anymore). Crosspins used with rimfire barrels can cause slight bulges in chambers that can affect accuracy and extraction.

Rembrant, your rifle is a beautiful firearm.
I took me many thoughts than usual to cool down the desire of having one like your in 22 magnum.
My CZ's 22 are only 513 Farmer (actually my son's first rifle), 452 Ultra-Lux and a 452 Trainer.
My Manlincher adventures stopped at CZ 550 308 and CZ550 6.5x55 Swede, thank God.
CZ Rimfire are not the best, but you don't get overall quality for what you paid in that price range.
(Just me, I do preferred iron sights in all my rifles regardless of scope or not.)

That full stock looks really nice. It looks like you have a good piece of walnut there.

The CZ is all I personally need or want......how is that "harsh".

Oh...and thanks for the welcome.........jerk.

Don't take it personal, wasn't ment to be

You just made a lot of guns in my safe sad

The only CZ rifles I couldn't get attach to it were the 22, CZ 512 semiautomatic with polymer frame either tactical or regular.
The polymer frames did not call my attention.
If some day they do again or import the CZ 511, I would be on the line right away with my CC on hand.

The trigger guard really made a big difference in the looks, it also came with matching screws. You would think the factory screws were ok until you see the others. It made big difference in the overall looks of the little riffle. Also got the Timmey trigger in at the same time. It now has a much better feel to the trigger. I got some steel magazines for it, not that the polymer magazine was all that bad. Have DIP base pads coming. I really don’t see the need to do anything else, to have the rifle I want, for the purposes I wanted it for. I am not expecting a one hole target gun, just a nice looking, accurate bolt action.22. I am getting very nice groups with CCI standard sv, tried some CCI Green Tag and it tightened up my groups even more. I looked a one of the Savage bolt action.22s and the CZ is a much better made gun. The receiver walls in the CZ is twice as thick. I think overall the CZ is the best bang for the money out there. It is right on the heals of the fine high dollar bolt action.22s and with just a bit added, it equals them for less money. I now have a very nice bolt action .22 without breaking the bank.
