I keep reading positive reports of the CZ-452 line of .22 rimfire bolt action rifles, so now I would like to buy one.

If you wouldn't mind, could you share which model you have and where you bought it? And if not too much to ask, the approximate price you paid?

Thanks!

Alex

They quoted me a Varmint just last week for $279, but I ended up buying it locally (NJ... guns cost more here) for $340. Most Gunbroker auctions end around $320 + shipping ($15-25).

I bought the Varmint because I felt the barrel would stay more accurate for longer plinking sessions and the shorter barrel more manuverable. In retrospect, I probably would have went with the American or Style- less expensive and the lighter weight is better for off hand shooting. I already had BKL rings from my airguns so scoping it was no problem.

Your action will probably stiff when you first use it, but it gets smoother pretty quickly (you'll notice a difference with in 50 rounds). The trigger is fantastic out of the box... zero creep and breaking at around 2.5 pounds.

Standard & high velocity ammo are quite accurate. CB shorts are disappointing though... compared to my PCP Talon, the gun is both louder and less accurate (1.3" groups vs .3")... but definitely more energy. It's nice that it feeds and ejects shorts with no problems yet.

Anyways, I'm happy, hope you find what you're looking for!

I bought a Special last year for $189 in Indianapolis. The accuracy amazes me! The trigger on mine has excessive creep - the only real drawback to this fine rifle - but not hard to correct. If you like accurate rimfire rifles I think you will be pleased with the way the CZ 452s shoot.

Hi Mythe,

What store in KC did you pick yours up at, if you don't mind me asking? I live in KC and am going to be buying a CZ 452 within the next few weeks, but haven't started shopping around yet.

Thanks in advance.

Hi lessthan,

I bought it at Denny's in North KC. They usually have a few of them in stock. If you like send me an email and I'll let you take mine for a test drive.

Mythe
