First, I know there is no standard for 308 AR's. We all know.
There are standards for some parts, and manufacturers claim to meet those parts. There is no need to bring up the lack of industry standard, but I suppose I'll hear it anyway.
I have a gen 3 PA-10, and was told by PSA that they use DPMS pattern barrels.
I have a Ballistic Advantage DPMS pattern barrel.
The gas port for the B.A. barrel is drilled 1/4" (.250) closer to the breach than the PSA barrel that came off. This means standard handguards will not work.
I have zero interest in a free float, which would be easier, but again, zero interest.
Is there anyone here with either a Ballistic Advantage midlength barrel, or experience in a similar situation. At this point, I mostly want to know the distance between the gasport and start of the barrel/shoulder/pin, or anything else measurable.
Otherwise is there anyone here who has experienced something similar?
I know one part is out of spec -both claim to hold the same compatibility- But I don't know which one. I have requested info from PSA, and BA, but don't expect much form either.
