What’s your favorite brace for an AR?

The problem is, I built a 300BO pistol and I thought I had a SBTactical 3 … but I can’t seem to find it.

I’ve got a couple of the SB Tactical on other guns, along with a Shockwave, Tailhook, and a couple of the early ones …

So, if I’ve got to buy something I want to get some other opinions!

Help a brother out!
 
My favorite ones are the ones that came on my MCXs. They have it down to a science but they are SIG specific with their recoil system.

My Son just put a new one of some kind on his new 300 BLK build, I forget what he told me it is ... he had to use an adapter of some sort but it's pretty cool.
 
I have two that have the older SB Tactical brace, but plan to up great them with The SB Tactical SB3 brace.
I did find pick up a Chinese knockoff of the SB3 brace, for $50, that seems to be pretty good.

I have an SBA3 on my current AR pistol and like it a lot but if I were going to build another one it would be a Tailhook Mod1.

I like the SBA4 the best but I do not own one, I think it looks the most like an m4 stock. I have the SBA3 and I like it.

I put the Shockwave on this one. It isn't the most comfortable but it's very minimalist and I believe it will be less likely to be on the chopping block, with the SB's more likely to be the first to get axed..... it's very nice and light though.... IMG_20211206_124812.jpg
 
Really it depends on the task/purpose, I used a Maxim Defense CQB PDW brace on mine and have been very happy with it. My intent was for HD and a truck gun for trips. Should you want to go to an SBR, they sell and actual stock attachment for it to convert it.

It's slightly shorter than a normal length buffer tube due to the captured buffer/spring, but it still utilizes a standard BCG.

I think the best one is the SBA4 and had I even know about it when I put my first pistol together, I would have gone with it. Taking nothing away from the SBA3 which is great, aesthetically I find the SBA4 to be more appealing. As far as function I don't know if one is better than the other. The SBA4 is just more M4'ish IMO.

About $2K+ worth of parts, Geissele SD-C (best trigger imo), Geissele Mk18 rail, FN 10.5" bbl, etc........including a Cryptic Coating Mystic Black BCG, if you have the money I highly recommend. I've never seen carbon wipe so easily away from a bolt and it is smooth as mascarpone.

I've almost finished the build, now to figure out an optic ... first off its 300BO which I'm going to shoot high-power and sub-sonic ammo that I load. I don't plan to shoot much over 100 yards. Secondly I have crappy eyes so a variable power scope, like a 4-12 is my preference, and this is a range toy so I'm NOT looking to spend Night Force money ... more like $5-600.

This is an upper from Unique, the hand guard has a snake engraved, with its mouth open just wide enough for my YHM Ti30 suppressor. The snake is wrapped around the full length of the guard and says "Dont Tread on Me" at the bottom. I did replace the kit barrel with a 300BO and is a 10.5" I had on the shelf. The lower is a PSA, also engraved "Don't Tread on Me", with the Gadsden coiled snake on the magwell, Magpul MOE grip nickel boron bolt & carrier, the trigger is a Geissele 2-stage and I went with the SBA3 brace. The nub on the front of the rail is for a Cauldwell brass catcher.

Only brace I have is the KAK Shockwave brace. And I don't really like it. I got it when I first caught wind the ATF might be banning pistol braces. And I grabbed it up.

There are other braces I would like to try and upgrade it at some point. Probably put the KAK on something else I throw together. AR parts have a way of growing into new projects. I like the SB3 brace but haven't handled one yet.
 
I have a complete 556 pistol upper that I plan to use with my Hellbreaker lower to build a P40 Warhawk pistol. I picked up one of Strike Industries pistol braces for it. Now to find the time to build and paint it.
