Happiness is...

I'm finally at marksman level for an Imperial Storm Trooper!!!

a crackling fire and coffee and Hoppes #9 on a winter evening

Don't forget the pipe full of good tobacco and lit with a burning pine bough pulled from the fire.
Regretfully, I gave up my pipe in 2005. That is, I "practically" gave it up - I still light it up (with a burning pine bough) whenever I'm sitting by a campfire with a hot cup of coffee. ;)

I have found lots of things that create Happiness…

A miss-free run with a full mag on the dueling tree. IMG_3509.jpeg
Seeing my favorite guitar player up close in a small venue. IMG_4149.jpeg

Coaching the marksmanship team and seeing their improvement.
IMG_3391.jpeg

Buying new grips and getting a perfect fit on the gun and in your hands.
IMG_2927.jpeg

And watching the kid finish a brutal mud race after hurting a knee racing the day before.

May you all find happiness in the little things as well.

Stay safe.

Yea, I forgot that part. I still enjoy a pipe on occasion, but mostly it's Lucky Strikes and Beech-Nut these days. When we squirrel hunted with the dogs a lot, I'd load my pipe, light it, and smoke on it for most of the hunt. Would occasionally have to knock it out and reload it if we were having to move quickly; I'd forget to draw on it while on the run!

Mac

MacAR: you might also be re-incarnated from the year 900 AD. It's only pure random chance that most of us weren't learning to throw spears/lances or seaxes as boys. But many people here have done so.

The smells and sights of nature are so 'correct'. Sometimes I pause shooting for about 10 minutes at a rural gun club (south of Jackson TN) with nobody else around, on weekdays, and enjoy the 98% silence.

that’s a good life!

"Happiness is" spending a lazy morning on THR and forgetting about the fact that it IS Monday. I might drive down to the local county gravel pit and run a few rounds through my new .357 later. Or not - it's kinda cold outside, so I might just go down in the basement and put powder and bullets in the 50 primed .357 cases sitting in a loading block on my bench. Or not - my sourdough starter needs fed, so maybe I'll look at a few new sourdough recipes on the internet and try one of them. Or not - getting old has its share of problems, but retirement isn't one of them. ;)
