I had Frank work on the DS for me. Long story short, it was all levels of broken and he got it up and running for me.Cylinder & Slide used to be one of the go-tos for older Colt revolvers, at least a few years ago. Frank Glenn is oft-recommended on the Colt Forum for older pythons and other colt revolvers.

I did too. Most of the colt smiths that were ever worth mentioning are gone. Those guns were hand tuned and todays lot of part swapper “gunsmiths” can’t make an old colt even close to what it once was. It’s nice to know that there are still options.Thank you @Miami_JBT regarding your post where you said you had work done by Mr. Glenn last year. I truly thought he had retired.
Could it be because they have been merged with the American Custom Gunmakers Guild?I generally turn to the American Pistolsmiths Guild for such things. Their website has a searchable database that is pretty easy to use, and anyone on that list is pretty much guaranteed to be a top notch gunsmith. The website appears to be down at the moment, so I won't provide a link, but if Mr. Glenn fails to pan out then that would be my next step.
you take photos of the DS before you mailed it out. good for prosperity and history the gunI sent Mr. Glenn an email the night before last and yesterday I got a response. He gave me instructions for shipping my gun to him and a copy of his FFL. I told him what I wanted done and he said he should be able to take care of it for me. His email is under “CONTACT” on his website.
This morning I packed up my Colt DS and took it to my LGS and my gun is on its way to Frank Glenn. I am really excited about this.

Thanks for that, @Pat Riot. I had no idea. Hopefully it doesn't affect what has been a valuable resource.Could it be because they have been merged with the American Custom Gunmakers Guild?
I stumbled onto this while searching for the pistolsmiths guild you mentioned.
EDIT: I forgot to add this link.
Frank does good work and got a junked DS back to working as a cannibalized hodgepodge of a Gen 2 DS frame with a Gen 3 crane and cylinder.I sent Mr. Glenn an email the night before last and yesterday I got a response.
