A custom 6.5 PRC has come to life. The VZ24 with an ER Shaw barrel, Boyds laminate stock, Timney trigger and Leupold 4-12x40 scope makes this three cartridge loaded rifle come in at 11 pounds. In case you wondered, recoil is barely noticed. I can see the target during follow through without being kicked away from scope view.
So why do I have a fairly heavy hunting rifle? The only reason is that is how this one turned out. It is not a purely paper punching rifle (due to the stock and scope) and it is not a safe queen………oh no. I have 30 ish handloads to tinker with in load work up and a box of factory ammo from Hornady. 449D7018-18D8-42FD-BD3E-F6505C648F17.jpeg 383563F6-28A0-46CD-890C-AAEFAAA7966F.jpeg

I bought a 6.5 PRC Bergara this year. It shot factory loads pretty poorly. Having a long action and I assume magazine will help with load development. 57.5 grains of H1000 and an ELD-X shoots really well. Right at 3010 over a magnetospeed. I’ve yet to drop the hammer on game but I think it’ll be a great deer and antelope rifle.

That said, it is basically like a 270. I like your set up and hunt with Mauser action .308 in thicker stuff.
