I do not have a stable full of guns, and my Sig P226 Stainless is my go to handgun.

Wanting grips a bit slimmer than the factory grips, I went with the Hogue anodized aluminum from their factory seconds auction site.

I had a choice, and I got my grips in what I consider to be a very pretty and intense blue.

Any thoughts on adding a little color to a working handgun?

looks better than I thought it would. If you like it who cares. I talked to some guy at the funstore last week who was carrying a SIG that had a black and white digital camo finish on it. I told him it was gay and would rather be shot with a pink gun. We all got a good laugh from it. Its all in good fun and he liked it so I did not fault him. I did look at a raspberry LCP right after that. I thought it was cool and my wife told me it was gay. You would have had to been there, but it was quite comical. She did like the pink TCP right next to it.. Think she was tryin to tell me something lol...

If you carry concealed, as in IWB, or OWB with a cover garment, the aluminum grips will stay at body temperature.
I have a set of slim alumagrips on my 1911, and haven't noticed any temp difference on the grips.

But if you open carry all bets are off.

I do not get to carry open or concealed in NJ, but I might go to the outdoor range in PA in the winter.

Great insight into Al grips being cold in winter. I will NOT get rid of my factory grips and I will take them to the range if it is really cold.

Those grips must get mighty damn cold in the winter!

What he said! (Edit:: I say that because my practice range is outdoors. I bet those might get a bit cold while it's lying onthe tailgate waiting it's turn.) That's why I like custom wood, but to each his own. I wanted some slimmer grips myself on the 1911 I carry and considered aluminum grips, but ended up going with ultra thin cocobolo.

I like yours, though! They look great!

I see no issues with dressing up something you'll carry. As long as it doesn't interfere with the sight picture, I'm ok with it. I really liked those glock end plates that you can custom engrave, and that very reason is why I didn't get them...I felt it may distract from my sight picture.

I think you made a good choice. Besides dressing up the gun, you also slimmed it down some. Hogue aluminum grips are for people like me with smaller hands. If you would have put the wooden hogue's on, it would make the grip even fatter than it already is.

I like them. I've thought of getting some Ahrends Royal Blue Dymondwood grips for my stainless Colt combat commander - the blue on stainless look is quite nice, IMO.

A little concerned

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blue seems to be the color of non-functional guns used for training.

I've heard this before and I think it's a silly viewpoint.

I have one of my guns Dura-coated almost completely RED.

I've heard: "Hey, ASP training guns are red, so there might be some confusion and someone could get killed!!!!"

Bull

First of all, it's MY GUN and _I_ know it's real!! There will be no confusion, even tho I have some ASP training guns lying around. I'm not going to load it and secretly slip it into the ASP pile for students to grab and train with.....

Second of all, if someone steals it and disregards the feel, heft and fully functional action simply because it's red and shoots his buddy or himself with it, well, too frickin' bad.

It's MY gun and I'll dress it up however I want to.

If the OP likes blue grips (I have some blue ones on a 1911) then go for it! As far as the "it'll be too cold in the winter," that's what holsters are for. I don't put my guns on the tailgate, I wear them in holsters. This keeps 'em warm.

What, no comments?

The color mix on the 1911 is strangely attractive, and I don't like blue.

The red XD looks fairly pathetic (showing wear too readily) until paired with the flame holster, but the combo looks good.

Ahh, but what do I know - I have an HK P7 with a purple slide.

If you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks? I might have gone with a different color, but the Hogue grips look nice.

The blue 1911 is my daughters.

I need to replace the red grip tape on the XD, that would help a bunch......but I can't remember where I put the tape.....

Here is my P32. I dyed the grips myself to a little different OD than the factory. Its a little brighter than Keltecs OD.

I got everything I needed to dye the grips at walmart for less than $5.00!! Came out pretty nice I think.

Thanks Boris. :)

I had a P32 before i got my LCP, but all in black. I like them with the different colored frame, just make sure you never drop yours in the grass out in your backyard, you'll never find it! :D

My now departed P32:
