I was wondering if anyone knows of a knife that has this design minus all the nazi ensignia
its a hitler youth knife according to the catalog and i love the design but want to be able to take it with me camping etc but its emblazened with swasticas and nazi symbols and im by no means shape or form a nazi (unless saftey nazi counts :D)
I understand why they offer these i guess for collectors of WWII memorabilia but it just looks like a good knife design minus the nazi junk

almost perfect HSO but i like the blade shape on the HYK any chanceb muella makes one like that?

i know handle material is different, but how close is that HYK to a Cold Steel SRK (dimension wise). that might give ya the same feel.

i'm with ya on the not wanting to roll with the HYK. i don't apologize, often, nor explain myself, but even I wouldn't want to be whipping out my knife with a big ol' swaztika on it :( pretty uncool, really.

This Hitler-Youth "Fahrtenmesser" was continued after the war
as a "Boyscout" knife. With a lily instead of the swastika ....

.. even the originals arent great .. it´s a cheap knife
for the millions ... the grip does hurt the hand after a bit of work.

The 420 version would be adequate ...., but my 02$:
Get a Muela.

I carried on of the HJ knife copies as a kid and it was OK as a sheath knife.

If you like the "butter knife" style of blade you might see if you can find a Bundeswehr "Kampfmesser" from the 1970's. It has a plastic handle with a lanyard hole and a seperate finger guard. I carried one in the service and have one now.

Just remembered something.

My HJ Knife repro was a solignen marked knife with the Othello brand logo.

In later years one of the scales craked and I decided to try my hand at making new grips. Turns out the knif was not "full tanged" and it was amazing it had not come appart over the years. I tossed the blade and handle in a drawer in disgust and suspect it is still out in the shop somewhere.

My second HJ repro I picked up in Germany and it was stolen durning the first week I had it. The one of the joys of barracks living is the amount of unauthorized sharing that goes on.

I lost my FIrst Kampmesser atFt. Sill , actually Lawton OK when my car was broken into. Got my real FS knife, too.

My main sheath knife for woods walking and such as a kid was stolen from a mini storage place....even after paying for the premium padlock. Oh and an AK bayonet before they or the guns were generally available and the sheath to my belgian made US WWII Navy issue Machette (machette is in sad shape today)

Hmmm my main youth pocket knife was stolen in basic training.

Appeaently the knives I have owned are popular with SOME people!

Old TImers Is acting up so one more post.

I ONCE saw what I was told was an AlpineJager(or plain vinilla jager) version of the German Kampfmesser I posted the photo of. It had a black handle and sheath of the same design but had a double edged blade and finger guard on both sides. Looked something like a shrunken SA or SS dress dagger. No idea if it was real or something made up, but the guy that showed it to me was a German Jager I worked with in Project Partnership. If I run across a well worn, cheap, and ugly Kampfmesser it might be neat to "make" such a knife though I would like an M-4 style blade more than a true double edge.
