Last a lifetime?? I don't think so!! I just threw away my 3rd pair!! I'm going to buy my 4th!
The salesman saw mine and said "I have never EVER seen a pair of docs get this worn out!! What did you do to them?"
"They are my 3rd pair.."
"I can't imagine what your first 2 pairs looked like.."

I wore out two pair of the low top shoes in 3.5 years.
So far, my Clarks look like they might live longer, but the jury is still out...

tone ... you must have used the Docs very intermittently! ..... My experience with several pairs ... used I admit daily for work .... was that soles wore thru and split across .... due i expect (in those days to a lot of kneeling and so shoe very flexed.)
I cannot support the ''indestructible'' label given to them by makers and some users. I've done better with $15 ordinary shoes from PayLess!!
