I am getting my CC permit and want a mid sized light poly frame gun, I have had great luck in the past with XDs Glocks and Sigs, they have never once jamed on me, and have all had above avarage accuracy (especaly the XD) I am on a $700 budget so the high end Sigs are out of the question :( I have not shot any of the newer models of these pistols so I need some imput before I buy. I am leaning toward the 40 cal.

Sig is a slightly different animal than a Glock or an XD. My personal favorite is the XDM, for minor advantages I feel it has over others in its class.

All reliable firearms, the only input you need is your own. It's really the only thing that matters. Go rent and shoot them in a 40 and see what tickles you right.

I've said this on other posts, don't overlook the S&W M&P especially the compacts for conceal carry. I have an XD & a SIG and have tried shooting a Glock, but my constant companion for a carry gun is my .40 M&Pc as I can shoot it the best. LM

I've owned examples of each said weapon platform, and I still own Glocks;)

But thats just what works for me..... I carry a Kahr, cause Glocks are too wide for my liking.

I never took to my XD 40. Reliable and accurate, but I didn't care for it. Gen4 Glock 19 is one of my go-tos, but the Sig 239 is quickly gaining my favor. Personally, I'd get the higher-end Sig (220, 226, 229, 239, etc... not 250 or sigpro).

I looked at the Glocks, fit my hand like 2x4, the XD-XDms, another 2x4, and a few of the Sigs. I finally got a Ruger SR9. The SR40 is almost, if not the exact same, dimensions. With a 17+1 rnd. capacity, for the 9mm, and thickness of a deck of cards, it felt perfect for me. It has the feel and balance of a 1911 in a glass filled nylon frame without the weight. I used it to qualify for my C.H.L. and only missed one shot. That was only because the guys brass that was next to me on the line caught me off guard on one exercise and hit me on the nose. I have over 500 rounds through it to date without a single malfunction of any sort with all different types and weights of ammunition.

Oh yeah, less than $600 out the door with a box or two of ammo.

I also recommend the Springfield M&P's and Ruger SR40. Both come in 9mm/40cal, compact or full size.

I've shot Glocks, Springfield's, M&P's, and a Sig 229. Out of those, I recommend the M&P the most, but the others are just as good.

As they say, pick your poison.

Glock 19 is about as good as Glock gets IMHO. I prefer 9mm Glocks to Glocks in 40 S&W.

Check out the Sig Pro SP2022 if you are not opposed to carrying a combat sized 9mm/40S&W. For the sub $400 price it is hard to beat.

Not a XD fan but it is not a bad choice.

You should check out the CZ 75 models, that are awesome and in your price range

I owned a low end Sig 250, it was reliable and accurate but the trigger and slide were gritty. If I were on a $400 budget I would buy one in a second over another Sigma (POS). I am slightly partial to the XD because of the amazing groups I shot with my friends 5" Tactical. 3" 14rd group at 15yd freehand nobody could beleve it, heck I have owned rifles that would not group that well of the bench LOL.

I cut my teeth on the glock 27. It was my first pistol. It's my daily carry. Its very accurate and reliable. It tucks away nicely iwb. It will also feed which ever SD ammo tickles your fancy. So personly I would steer you in the direction of the glock.
How ever the xd or sig(I only have a 1911 platform sig, can't speek to the poly's) are nothing to sneez at. I love my xdsc and flirted with carrying it for a while back in the summer, but the grip is a little long for my liking in a ccw. The xd is as reliable(in my expeirences) as the glock. eats everything I feed it as well. The xd I must say has the edge in ergos but thats really it. Either way you can't go wrong, good luck.

If I had $700.00 to spend on a concealed carry handgun I'd get a Sig P239 SAS Gen2. It's a single stack gun that has had all of it's sharp edges "melted" by Sig's custom shop. It's setup from the get-go for concealed carry. It comes in 9mm, 357 Sig and 40 S&W and uses Sig's SRT (short reset trigger) trigger system. It's tough to beat and heck, I'm a Glock guy!

For $400.00, I'd be all over a Glock 23. For $700.00 though, I'd easily pick the Sig. The Glocks and XD's are tough to conceal because they are so thick. The Sig is a fair amount thinner where it counts. Throw in the factory de-horning and it's not even close in my opinion.

I like the 1911s and other steel framed guns at the range, but for daily carry I perfer poly, and for combat situations I would perfer high cap mags over single stacks. I have no issue with recoil 9mm, 40, 45s are all sissy kickers, I would use a Glock 20 10mm auto if it fit my hand right.

I have the Glock in 26 and 19 and the SA XDm in 9mm 4.5". My EDC is my G26. The more accurate and enjoyable-the XDm. If I had to pick only one? G19. Clear as mud?

I like XDs so much I have three of them. 9mm service and SC and a 40 service model. They're accurate, reliable, inexpensive, fun shoot and all around great guns. The only time any of them have malfunctioned have been with underpowered handloads.

As a compact poly frame pistol you may consider the new Bersa BP9 or BP40
Quite nice to look at it, lifetime warranty...~350$.....you can use the rest of your budget for other stuff...

You may also consider one the latter S&W Sigma models, S&W has recently improved the trigger a lot.....can be had out of the door for less than $300 often on big sales at big box stores and they work quite well.....very accurate too...

I'm not a fan of polymer, striker fired pistols...they are not pretty nor particularly collectable items so why spending top dollars for one?? These work very well and they are of good quality from reputable manufacturers for half of your budget or even less...

CZ 75 phantom is a nice one to look at. Its polymer framed and a very nice pistol. Their alloy framed models would still be in the running due to the sig...same basic weight and construction materials.
