Down with a nasty case of the flew so when I wasn't at the gym sweating in the Sauna I was wrapped up in a electronic blanket. I did make some interesting ammonpulvar loads for Ruger Blackhawk .44 Magunm (tried a formual that's pretty right on for "smokeless" that loads it lighter than IMR) with the additions of petroleum jelly, graphite, chalk, and NC. Came out of feve ared day of back sitting so I gave it a try. Glazed the granules in graphite then I rolled them flat and added petroleum jelly by hand with a small paint brush, then rolled it through a fine mortar pestle milled chalk powder. Then I put nail polish sealant over the primer hole after putting in my NC plug (treated like the Ammon Pulver), and then put the nail polish remover over the crimped round. Then the rounds went into the outside minifridge where they'll stay for the next week.
The loads are barely .44-40 loads. It's about testing the granule break down with the added presence of petroleum jelly (vaseline). The petroleum jelly has to be heated before adding so that it's nearly dry, and after the final granulation it has to be dried out. I have a large dehumidifier from my carpet cleaning business that I let dry out on top of. I let the dehumidifier run in my "storage room" for forty-eight hours ahead of time to ensure there was virtually no moisture in the air, and then I let it dry for twenty four hours. So yes my fiancee gave me the weirdest looks as I trapsed about looking like death warmed over, hacking and coughing green slime out of me.
In four weeks I'll pull six of the twelve rounds out and pull the bullets to see what the powder looks like and see it if will burn. If it burns I'll take the rounds to the range.
