Yesterday was a good one

Down with a nasty case of the flew so when I wasn't at the gym sweating in the Sauna I was wrapped up in a electronic blanket. I did make some interesting ammonpulvar loads for Ruger Blackhawk .44 Magunm (tried a formual that's pretty right on for "smokeless" that loads it lighter than IMR) with the additions of petroleum jelly, graphite, chalk, and NC. Came out of feve ared day of back sitting so I gave it a try. Glazed the granules in graphite then I rolled them flat and added petroleum jelly by hand with a small paint brush, then rolled it through a fine mortar pestle milled chalk powder. Then I put nail polish sealant over the primer hole after putting in my NC plug (treated like the Ammon Pulver), and then put the nail polish remover over the crimped round. Then the rounds went into the outside minifridge where they'll stay for the next week.

The loads are barely .44-40 loads. It's about testing the granule break down with the added presence of petroleum jelly (vaseline). The petroleum jelly has to be heated before adding so that it's nearly dry, and after the final granulation it has to be dried out. I have a large dehumidifier from my carpet cleaning business that I let dry out on top of. I let the dehumidifier run in my "storage room" for forty-eight hours ahead of time to ensure there was virtually no moisture in the air, and then I let it dry for twenty four hours. So yes my fiancee gave me the weirdest looks as I trapsed about looking like death warmed over, hacking and coughing green slime out of me.

In four weeks I'll pull six of the twelve rounds out and pull the bullets to see what the powder looks like and see it if will burn. If it burns I'll take the rounds to the range.

Saturday I thought about going to the range but since I am in the middle of a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome relapse I decided to have a nap instead, besides I only have .22 and 7.62x54R to burn.

Um, could you send me some of that ".22 to burn"? Please?

I've sky dived twice... both times as the same time. The first and the last!

I did it in anticipation of a possible structural failure in my aerobatic biplane. Now I know that if there is ANY way I can put it in without killing myself, that's what I'm going to do. I can't figure out why I can turn an airplane inside out but have a problem free falling or even leaning over a balcony way up in a high rise building.

No aerobatics this weekend, but we did go to a fly-in breakfast on Saturday to support a local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) chapter. Sunday I mowed the lawn... yawn.

My father-in-law was a member of the EAA too.
He was a retired American Airlines pilot and then got into EAA.
He died in a crash in Nevada some years back.

SabbathWolf - My condolences. In the EAA we call a member’s passing Gone West. “Not alone into the sunset but into the company of friends who have gone before them.” For me there are worse ways of dying than succumbing to life doing what you love.

Ok. Well. I shot 73 on Saturday in some pretty good winds with my back acting up. Then I helped my wife and mother in law hang a light in the backyard. What else. I drank a bunch of beer. And I ate a burrito. And, to make it related to THR, I showed off my Ruger 77/22 in 22 hornet I just picked up for $300 to my brother in law and later received the first part of my ammo shipment from Cabelas. I got half of the .40.

Not as cool as yours. But I will take it.

Spent the weekend fishing....first catfish on Friday. Landed several, with 5 of them going over two foot, up to about 28 inches. Sunday was spent on Lake Sharpe, camping and shore fishing smallmouth bass. Caught several, with one pig going about 17 inches or so, along with another big cat, a couple of northerns, and a couple of walleyes about 19 inches or so. Rain was in the forecast, but we had perfect May weather. Only issue was the fishing was so good, I was out of bait by 10 PM, and I enjoy night fishing!

Yep. I agree.

Looks like a lot of fun was had over the weekend. I completed an event called the CMC on Camelback Mountain in the Poconos (PA), it was tough but had a blast. Sunday I started to recover from it, still not sure I'm 100% but already signed up for next year.
