Vagun,

I admire your goals and support your self-denial fully.

The Mrs. and I paid off our mortgage in 13 years because we set the goal and worked at it steadily. Cabela's will wait, and when those other payments are no longer on your back it becomes much easier to say "yes" to new toys and other things that don't make you feel bad the next time you open the mailbox.

Keep after it.

$150 off, that's a good sale! I've looked at those at Dixie and they are mighty fine. You need one......

I see everyone seems to like Cabela's. However, in my experience, it seems to be overpriced with regards to nearly everything. I walked into the closest Cabela's once to see what they had, and it was wall-to-wall people around the firearms. To look at one, you had to get a number, just like at the deli at the supermarket and wait until your number was called. A very impersonal experience. I would much rather just go to the local gun shop. Less crowded, usually cheaper prices, and you are supporting a local business.

Till its time to buy ammo and pay $75. for a box of .22

I use to go to my local gun shop and i really liked the guys till the ammo thing happend and i havnt been back since.

Once i seen a guy at walmart with the gun shop shirt on looking for ammo.

In all my life I don't think anything was as satisfying as the day I paid off my final, I hope, mortgage. No car payments, mortgage or any other "revolving credit". Most of my income now is mine to spend other than monthly bills. It makes it a lot easier to buy guns and other toys when I don't have all that debt hanging over my head.

I still manage to spend all I bring home but at least it's on ME and my family rather than sending 29% of it to Chase Bank.

Oh, I know just how you feel about guns you would love to have. Like almost everyone is saying, the guns will be there waiting for you and just keep doin what your doing and when you have everything paid up you'll feel so much more at ease and you'll see that the deals will always be around. They make they're living off of us and those deals will always be there for you ;)

I like Cabelas over Bass Pro and Gander, but sometimes you walk into Cabelas, like the store here in Fort Worth, and they still are out of everything you want or need :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

They sent me a catalog. OH, I just COULDN'T leave it alone. There's a Pedersoli SxS muzzle loader in there and then going to the site, find it's on sale. Well, I cannot buy it at this time.:banghead: I'm saving to pay off bills and BY GAWD that's what I'm gonna do! :banghead:

Control thy urges....

Control your urges. I just got 2 used SxS shotguns from the classifieds on here and another forum. The CVA I got on this site was in almost new shape but had a weak left lock mainspring. $20 sent to Deer Creek got me a pair of springs and it only cost $300 plus the spring.

The Pietta is a nicer handling gun and I paid $425 for it. So for $25 less than the Pedersoli, I got 2 shotguns. There's really no reason to pay that much if you just want one for hunting as I did.

Yeah bubba ,Calm DOWN. I know it is difficult. I have lusted after double rifles and shotguns all my life. After hanging out on the proper forums for quite a while I scored a nifty CVA 12 gauge SXS . Pay your bills and take care of your loved and be nice and some day it will pay off. Seems like a dumb thing to say but it works.

I suppose now would be a bad time to tell you that I own a Pedersoli rifle and it's very well made. I'd expect the shotguns to be the same.

Yea i found a navy arms.sxs 12gà a year or two ago. It is a good pointer and so ho ho much fun hunt turkeys with.
I use the same durofelt material dor wads as i use in my. 44revolvers

You never know when it might suddenly become "illegal" to buy a gun in the the ol' U S of A. There's them that dream about doing that to us. Maybe better buy that puppy while you still can... (just sayin')
