I've been back and forth on BOTH of those purchases for awhile now. I'd love to get a 5.5" barrel 1858 to compliment my 8" version. I was hemming and hawing around about that 1860 too, but I suppose that ship has sailed for now.

I've really been interested in getting a big ol' Walker, but I've had so much fun shooting my Remington, that I'm really leaning toward the 1858 again:scrutiny:

Is it just me....
or does Cabellas NOT sell conversion cylinders for their products?

Looked everywhere on their site...nothing!

I am REALLY leanin t'ward this little gem.
I'm hopin to hear from someone here that has one first.

Thanx for the promo code Tom but if i decide to git one i think i'll opt for the free in store pick up.
There is a Cabella's 'bout an hour from me down near the PA./ W.VA line and i spose i'll hafta suffer with a warm spring day motorcycle ride to go pick it up. :D
Mmm.. i spect i'm gonna hafta take mumy along for the ride and buy her a big ole elk burger when we git there.
Knowin her.... *rubbin chin*, why do i see this turnin into a brace o' '58's ;)
His and hers even :)

I had belatedly decided to go for the 1860 so I called Cabelas to see if I could still get yesterdays price. They were super nice but said, sorry..but if you buy at todays price we'll give you free shipping. I passed. Looking at the brass framed 1851 Confederate .44. Wonder if it will stand 30 gr charges.

Their doing a good job of keeping me broke.

Ya shouldn't feed brassers a steady diet of 30 gr.

If youdon';t watch the sales when they come on than you'll always just be one step behind. I got all my guns from them when they were on sale. Haven't had a problem with anyof them.

Jim that Remmie w/5.5" bbl is as good as they come. You'll like it.

the good news is, if you missed this sale, it will happen again :)

I needs to get me a '58

I've got a Cabella's 5 1/2" Remmie.

It shoots one ragged hole groups at 10 yards off hand using a 30 gr spout full of Goex FFFG and a 451 Hornady lead ball.

The stock sights are pretty much right on the money too.

VERY happy with mine.

Having Rob at Simply Rugged make me up a nice holster for it too!

The 5.5" Remmy is abso-friggin-lutely sweet. I have both the 5.5 and the 8. I love them both, but that 5.5 is fantastically handy. Much like a Colt SAA clone with a 5.5" barrel.
I'd love to have another 5.5" Remmy, but I'm aching for a 5.5" Ruger Blackhawk .44 Special. I was wanting the new Charter Arms 5" Target Bulldog .44 special, and still do, but that Ruger is built like a Ruger.

Yep. I don't understand why they don't put the steel frame navy on sale like that.
However, the Remmy is sweet.

If you bought one at $199 how can you resist another at $179? Using a Dollar Cost Averaging strategy you would have only paid $189 ea. you just got $10 back!

I just ordered the 5.5" version and a holster.
The 8 inch version is now also the same price.
I have had the target model for years, and it's very accurate.

You guys that just ordered the 5 1/2" Remington are just gonna love 'em. I have had mine for over a year now. I shoot it more than any of my other handguns. ('cause they're so much fun)

Jaymo, I was at a local gun store last week and he had a 5,5" SS Veqero in .44 mag. for $550 NIB
That night i sat up in bed thinkin "somethin aint right about that gun "
I went back to the store and man was i ever right.
It was a mistake run of 100 guns AND it was packaged in a serial numbered 7 1/2" gun box.
AND, it went out the door the day before for $500 cash :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I hemmed & hawwed all last week & then stopped back on Father's Day and the price for the 5-1/2 " 1858 dropped another $20.00.
What more convincing did I need? None.
Mine will be here Thursday along with a spare cylinder and a box of .454" balls.
All for less than $260.00 delivered. A no brainer decision on that one.
The only thing that could make it any better is when they have a comparable offer on a stainless steel one,a long one or a 5-1/2"er , I wouldn't care.
Say $299.00? I'd fall all over myself if it were to come about. Wish-wish-....
