I must admit my mistake

I went to the LGS to pick up a M&P 9mm as my first modern striker fired pistol and saw they had a new CZ-75 w/ safety behind the glass. The DA trigger was quite nice! It's been hard to get an impression of triggers through online discussion but the trigger on this particular example had a reasonably weighted smooth, non stacking, and all around very nice DA trigger. I was impressed and the pistol fit like a glove.

The M&P however fits me like a too large glove. It has other features that I am interested in right now though.

I have had a bunch of CZs, still have one and a custom "clone." I also have a somewhat-enhanced M&P Pro. I love them all... (The M&P Pro, which includes work by SpeedSpecialities, done before I bought it, is marvelous.)

I have been a huge fan of CZ since the early 2000's when I walked into J&G one day and walked out with a brand new CZ-75 BD for under $400!

I ended up stupidly trading it for something a couple years later and it was one of the worst gun related decisions I had ever made. I wanted to buy another 75 BD a couple years ago and couldn't find one anywhere, it seemed like they had vanished and the ones I did see were nearly twice what I paid for my first one!

Fortunately a couple weeks ago I stumbled upon another brand new BD at one of my local shops for $489 and decided to put it on layaway.

If you ask me CZ makes some of the finest handguns for the money. They aren't the bargain they were a decade ago but there's a reason why people are willing to pay more for them today.

On a side note I'm leaving for the Czech Republic in a few weeks for a much needed vacation, wish I could take a tour of the CZ factory but I think you need be granted special permission to do so:(

Here's some CZ porn, my CZ-40B....

This is my PCR as currently configured. (I'm a better shot with it than a camera.)

I have added CZ accessory wood grips and Meprolight Tru-Dot night sights made for the P-01. The slide was inletted for a so-called "snag-free" rear sight, hence the "step" or "shelf" in front of the sight, but they fit and work perfectly. Cajun Gun Works in West Monroe, LA installed the sights.

Saturday I picked up a NIB 75B 9mm for $489.00. I cleaned & lubed it with Shooters Choice FP-10 & grease. Shot with it Sunday and it shoots to POA like a dream, and 100 rounds cycled without a hitch.

I used to think CZs were the best "unknown" guns available in the U.S.; they're not so unknown, any more.

Yeah, Walt, I liked CZ's better back when they were a secret and they could be found on the shelf new for $400 every day. They are worth every penny of the $600-700 they bring now.

Walt, which CZ do you have left?

A very nice satin nickel 85 Combat (and Kadet Kit.) I had a Champion sear installed some years ago, when having action work done. (As I understand it, it was more like the original sear.)

I also have a custom AT-84s that is simply marvelous. (It was supposedly built by Jim Boland, a name gunsmith -- now dead; it looks like his work but I have no PROOF that he did it; it is a very refined pistol.)
