JWarren,
Excellent response. I agree with each and every one. Particularly #7. It is this answer that intrigues me. On the prior thread I referenced in my original post many seemed to scoff at the possibility that hiding one's guns may someday be necessary.
I agree with you...
I was reading another thread where someone asked how to best bury his guns. The OP was ridiculed by many for being paranoid. My question: what kind of possible scenarios do you envision where your guns might come in handy.
Katrina like collapse of local government?
Terrorist attack...
Fantastic thread. I would agree that the best definition of reliability would include operation under adverse circumstances including extremes of temperature. I keep coming back to the Beretta 92FS which underwent the government test and was chosen because of its performance.
I own a CZ...
Yeah, this guy was just looking for an excuse to explode. Hell, I didn't know him from Eve and I had no reason to provoke him (beyond asking him to MYOB - not a good idea as it turned out).
IMO, pulling a gun would have been a grave mistake. This guy already had gone beserk. I'm not sure...
Tecumseh, love your moniker.
SniperSnaz, I definitely was not trying to escalate the situation after the MYOB remark.
IF I had been carrying, when would it have been appropriate to pull the gun?
...should have turned 90 degrees to give him fewer targets of opportunity and at least give me an opportunity to recover from an attack.
I was glad it ended peacefully because I simply am too old for that kind of s***! I like the idea of having the mobile immediately available and calling at...
...you mind your own business."
At that point the guy goes ballistic (I've not yet laid eyes on him) and runs around the pump shouting "What the f*** did you say? You just picked the wrong guy!! I'm going to take you down!" He's 25 years younger than me, in good shape and about 2 inches...
Agree 100%. Restrictions should not be permanent and there should be an appeal process even for "domestic violence" which has evolved into a way of restricting the gun rights of innumerable law abiding citizens.
Mental health records should definitely be part of the NICS check. Common sense. If there is any indication of a violent disposition towards others then you don't get a gun. Otherwise, they cannot restrict your right TKBA - PERIOD.
Who makes that determination? Who else? First...
Nothing wrong with your wife. But if she is not a citizen she should not be allowed to own a gun. Sorry.
Your graduate friend from India and many people I know who are not citizens should NOT be allowed to own guns. Come on people! Gun ownership is explicitly reserved for citizens of the USA.
