The best performer is my TC/ Contender 10 inch barrel in .41 Rem. Mag. I can load my own
using H110 powder with Hornady’s 210 XTP. They do all you would ask of that package.
I still rely on my 1973 vintage S&W Mod. 58 . It is in top notch ( shooter) condition. Heluva lotta
bluing...
I finally loaded the 81 clean brass cases off .41 magnum. Most were 210 gr. Flat point.
only 30 were Hornady 210 hollowpoint. ( pre XTP)
I did run completely out of 2400 powder. Finished with the hornadys using H110 .
Going to shoot them from my TC/Contender 10 inch … no scope . Factory...
This is exactly what happened to mine. My favorite gunsmith friend agreed to clean up my trigger on the Nylon 66. When trying it out, the little carbine would jam or fail to eject/ fail to chamber.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
I backed out the side plate screws just a tad ... Runs fine now...
About 10 years ago a Range Officer at my Sportsman’s Club ... praised the qualities of .223 cal. In deer hunting.
I was not a believer then , & did not heed heed his reviews of the 5.56 /.223 .
I Do not believe that caliber is suited for anything in the woods, that is heavier than 60 lbs.(...
I always tried and practiced using this training Philosophy...
Aim small ... miss small. For the most part in shooting for hunter's accuracy that means more than just words.
The best thing to your advantage is practice with the same good ammo . Ammo that your gun shoots well.
Shoot as...
I still have a small amt. of WW452 and HG 68 target bullets. Last time that I loaded them . I was told that they make Major level in competition. Still not sure about that.
They don’t shoot as accurately as some other loads from my Colt Gold Cup. Or a newer SIG P227 .
The best Target loads...
I am not as precise as Dustin Johnson is at Golf... But I have been told by game & Hunting Guides. " that ole boy puts shots where he wants to" or " he hits what he shoots at".
BTW. Trigger jobs & good sights ... on my guns helped me a lot, in competition and Hunting.
I have seen more Whitetail Bucks over the years when I put my Rifle against a tree , & move my shoulder holster to the side.
Getting out a pork or chicken sandwich ( must be the bacon Chipotle seasoning)... That's the occasion when I see deer moving.
PS. The Sage from the last of the herb...
Something to consider when using revolvers is that nice recoil plate .... behind the cylinder ?
With the LR primer protruding ever so little... you are going to scratch the face of that plate as the cylinder turns.
1911 guns , Slam fires will occur. It's only a matter of time...
My ex girlfriend gave it away while it was in a Bank Bag ( all parts... dissassembled).
Gunsmith in neighboring town got it , refinished it & put it back in order.
He said the young girl never came back for it. Well... we broke up , she moved out and on the way , she dropped off my...
I am now thinking this ... as the most common sensible concept.
Everyone should at this High price and good money return time .
Sell most of your pistols and carbines , they are nearly useless.
Just buy one Glock, 17 or 19 . Just buy one AK 47 . 9mm. & 7.62 x 39 are the best in their own...
I also like .44 mag to make my own. Since 1987 ... 90% of my ammo for my S&W 29 were my own Loadings.
Also enjoyable were .41 mag. Due to necessity , 1st reason. #2 The Accuracy out of my TC/Contender ; pretty darn impressive. Lot of satisfaction by the results.
35 Remington is not as...
For fear of stating some heresy, I have loaded 148 gr. Wadcutters in .357 cases.
Using WW231 3.9 gr. of powder under either type of 148 gr. DEWC & HBWC
My S&W mod. 19 ... will shoot those powderpuff loads with precise accuracy.
( HBWC shoot the best from my .38 SPL cased loads in...
☆ My 2 sentimental Favorites are included here.
The .35 Rem. Is almost a relic of the past... but I have never recovered a .358 slug from any animal that I have shot with it.
444 Marlin is more useful in Pa. Woods ... than the 45-70 Govt. as it is not an overkill caliber. ( just right for...
Much thanks , your discovery is appreciated ...Mr. Eddie.
9 years of LEO use , on that gun , before I bought it. ( looks and shoots good for 47 years old !)
I have been dismissed and discounted ...nearly disparaged when discribing my Mini Ranch Rifle , having a 1 in 10 " twist.
A 187 series built in 1985... Mini 14 Ranch Rifle. According to Ruger & Sunflower Outdoors data base. Ranch Rifles 18 " Bbl. were different in the good old days. ( ☆ To the...
I also used a Barlow , made in Ireland. "Sabre" was the blade model. It stayed sharper than the next one.
"lmperial" by Barlow (clip point)... made in Providence, R.I. was bought after the Sabre's handle broke ; and I fixed it with a non countersunk screw. ( at least I color matched the...
