It looks like a .32 Hand Ejector but there are some small differences and I think it may be a copy.
Some of the copiers had trademarks that just happened to resemble the S&W stamp and some even counterfeited it.
I tend to agree with Jim. Small differences but closely appears to be a 32 HE 3rd change with the trademark on left side, but the serial number doesn't even come close. All of the 3rd change S&W's I found had 5 digit serial numbers.

Serial number range on the M&P is 241704-700000 shipped between 1915-1942 You can do some math and get it narrowed down to a year or two.

Book shows ship date of 1955 but if it has Mod 17 stamped in the yoke, it probably didn't ship until 1957 when they started stamping model numbers on the frame.
I recieved my K-22 yesterday, and there is no "17" stamped on the crane. I assume it was shipped in 1955. Thanks again.

Is that the serial number on the butt of the gun? The S Prefix is only found on N frames that I know of and the only N frames made in .38 special were made in 4 and 6 inch barrels.
Can you post some more pictures especially the butt of the gun, inside the crane and both sides of the barrel? I think we can clear it up

That number is on the butt of the gun, but the "s" is far removed from the number. I was unsure if the "s" is actually part of the serial number

New here. I don’t know much about it. It was my grandfather’s gun. Any help is much appreciated.

A. 32
B. short
C. Round
D. 6

It is a .32 Hand Ejector Model 30. Probably made in 1969.
Caliber is .32 S&W Long, also shooting .32 S&W if you need even less power.
The interesting part is that the serial number is beyond the end of that series.
The book says they stopped at 786544 and started over with an "H" prefix.
I don't see an "R" after the serial number on the butt.
