the four screws on the left side of the barrel was done at the factory for mounting a scope. the 39a is one of the best 22lr made. yes some can have problems, but most are just "good shooters" without any problems. i use one in nra smallbore lever action silhouette matches.
Slugs your barrel. If you don't use a bullet that is not at least..001/.002 over size you will lead. No matter how hard/soft the lead is, type of lead, type of lube or how fast/slow the bullet is running.
dropped into sportsman warehouse yesterday a got 1k cci small pistol primers for $23.99 plus tax. i got the last box (1K). they said that they had 25 boxes. one box per person. no other reloading items or ammo. it was my lucky day.
i use old school lube and a lube pad for years. now i used a inside neck cleaner brush and old school lube. for all my rifle rounds i put some lube on the brush and run the brush inside the case. does not take much lube. throw the cases in a bucket. the lube will start to run to the out...
they stopped making the steel el paso texas weavers scope in the mid 80. they were the best scope made. four clicks to a minute. your scope is still a good scope, but not the original t-scope made in el paso texas.
working on my last 8 pound metal can of sr4756 from 1985. still makes great ammo. down to about one pound. just finish some h110, 2400, and unique from 1986.
casting is like reloading. you never count your time into the factor. casting was the way to go until they starting making wheel weights out of zinc and steel. now days if you get a 5 gallon bucket of wheel weights you are lucky to get 1/4 in lead wheel weights.
in 357 mag i use small pistol standard, mag, and small rifle primers with titegroup. never had any problems and use the same powder drop for all. mag and rifle give me about 12 fps over standard primers.
i feel for the people that did not plan for hard times. no i don't. with all the crap over the past 20 years you should have seen this coming. you should have "buy it cheap, stack it deep" when you had the chance. you will never see low prices on ammo and/or reloading components again.
they are some of the best primers made in my book. i shot well over 20k of them in matches. use to get the around $24.00 dollars for 1k. i wish that i gotten a boat load of them. never had any problems with them.
bullseye powder is what i used when i went down this road in 85. it was fun reloading a boat load of 25 acp ammo. don't remember why i did it. i will look for my load data, but i think somewhere 1.3 to 1.5. the load would punch a good hole through 1/2 plywood with ease. the bullet i used...
