This morning it was a bit damp. Returning from the end of the range here is what I found ... this little guy seems to enjoy 1911 a little to much for its own good o_O
I let him go on a nice grass field.
(Ruger SR1911 repost, now counting 250 rounds without hiccup, it shoots high with S&B...
I own a SIG / GSG 1911-22, it feels great and it really looks like this one.
For now my only grief are the plastic sights that I will replace by metal sights at some point.
Here is my latest acquisition, a Ruger SR1911
Thanks to Thehighoad members for helping me decide on this pretty thing
(here: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/upgrading-from-a-remington-1911r1-next.902303/ )
Here is my latest acquisition, a Ruger SR1911, carefully selected as you know ;)
I have just received it, not even fired yet, just unpacked and slightly oiled, it comes dry.
I am not sure about the micarta grips, I will probably put on American walnut, hand crafted in Germany (the last one, new...
It is possible, more or less difficult and under constraints depending on the sport you are willing to do.
Hunting :
Over 16 to participate and share a shotgun
Over 18 for a full license
Passing the licence : 4h group class, plus 2h individual exam (mostly a ball-trap session with an examiner...
Ruger SR1911 it will be.
The armorers and supply chain have spoken. All of the "in stock" items I had collected were actually not in stock, but supposedly on backorder, or some fishy arguments from online sellers like in stock at the supplier depot.
With some instance from me having my local...
In theory yes, it's not impossible but it's a long road. I tried that many times (genuine replacement sights for my R1, springs and firing pin for my Colt Trooper MkIII etc), but stopped either because of the export and import paperwork, additional costs from the buyer, shipping and taxes. Or...
I had a mitigated experience with my R1, it points right now but is still picky. Not sure I want to gamble again on a R1S ;)
I didn't knew about the Remington R1S, I found one in stock, its price point is 1300€ - $1465
A Springfield Mil-Spec Stainless is 1150€ - $1300
Kimber Stainless II 1200€...
Thanks you guys, I knew I should ask here :)
Based on your advices, and manufacturers with a good dealership network:
I have Kimber, Springfield, Ruger on my short list (1000-1500€), maybe a Colt if I can put my hands on a mint used one, or a discount.
Availability may be a factor in my...
:)
Indeed my R1 is not that bad, the trigger could be lighter, with a little less travel but it breaks like glass. I am selling it for 560€ and it is already reserved for a new owner waiting for one more detention authorization. It's nearly half the price, I know it will make another beginner...
Stainless and like @ontarget said : from factory a better trigger, smooth action, comfortable fit... She should look like a classic ;)
Something that won't need to spend hundreds more in tuning or parts swap.
Then just for you to know, prices doesn't compare, firearms tends to be twice...
Here are the brands selling 1911 here, sorted by availability :
Tanfoglio
Taurus
S&W
Ruger
Sig Sauger
SAI
Kimber
The Ruger SR1911 stainless looks good in pictures, it's in my price range. The SAI 1911 Mil-spec is surprisingly cheaper, I will definitely look into it, thanks for the heads up :)
Hi
I have a pretty basic Remington 1911R1 in 45 ACP for a few years now, I am seriously considering an upgrade to a stainless steel model, with a classic touch (not some fancy or too modern looking gun). Or at the very least something with a better fit and finish.
My playground is pretty...
Today and for the last few months I am more in game than range shooting. So I use almost only this old Verney Carron Sagittaire NT, lightweight 12 gauge over under for small game.
A gift from my father to replace a Browning B25 that I never managed to shoot properly (it's just me I know that ;-)
I just bough a BL 22. Partly because my father has a BL 22, he bought it in 1979, and because compared to a Henry or a Chiappa LA322 the BL 22 really shines. As you may imagine, I am very proud to own this little rifle.
Both are surprisingly identical, except the checkering and the gold trigger...
Hi guys,
so much for my 44 RM duo, I failed to find a 44 Ruger in my price range. Maybe someday I will find one, they are quite sparce here.
I went for two nice guns instead, both feeling adequately sized in my hands.
A Colt Trooper mark III because I couldn't resist this beauty, and at last...
Oh oh... Looking at redhawk and blackhawk pictures side by side you're right about the slim neck grip.
That's one thing I missed, I was focused on grip length and butt.
I should come here more often.
I tend to look for a redhawk already, I will look for S&W 29 but I am pretty sure I won't find one. Thanks for this recommendation :)
To give you an idea : I shoot a pietta 1858 44 black powder and the grip is short enough in my hand to discourage me, it's something I would avoid with a 900€...
