Personally, I love minimalism and am a proponent of knowing your equipment really well. A 357 python meets all my needs, from defense to camping/woods walking to short range deer hunting. The next guy would have 5 different options for each of those scenarios. Both of us would be right.
7.7” low at 300 with a 200 yd zero sounds about right.
You absolutely need to shoot your rifle at the ranges you plan to shoot animals at. The numbers on the box give you a general idea, but if you want to hit coyotes in the field at 300 yards, you need to know exactly where your gun shoots...
In the case of federal gmm, that’s not true. It’s not guaranteed to shoot the best in any given rifle of course, but it has the reputation it does for a reason.
Depends what you do. If you don't hunt or shoot past 300 yards, a 223 and a 22 would cover things easily. If you like shooting prarie dogs, hunting moose, and target shooting to a mile, a larger battery of rifles would be needed.
They do. Accuracy fanatics feel like a Shilen/Criterion/other is an upgrade compared to the ones Savage makes. That's likely true if everything else(mostly the shooter) is dialed in. Personally I shoot a stock LRPV and it's ridiculously accurate. I've shot enough groups in the .3's to know...
I've used a couple, even black hills 52gr match. 90% of the time I use these...

The key thing in my experience with 223 is distance. It does the job in spades at 100 yards and...
I generally don't take the side of the media. That said, one hit center mass with no flak vest or anything at short range will most certainly put a person down in a hurry. If it wouldn't, units like SEAL teams wouldn't use 5.56 for missions like Bin Laden.
My brother in law get's tons of...
It's going on 50 years of military service, and is barely adequate? Special ops forces that have options still use in in most close quarters roles. Of course for shooting across long distances in Afghanistan, there are better options. But for anything under 100 yds it is the best balance of...
True enough. The Washington redskins is perfectly legal too, Just seems there could be a better name for a football team, but apparently enough people think it’s a great name, because they’re not changing it.
I’m sure they would be proud to be associated with those attributes, as would anyone. Of course we both know I wasn’t referring to that. The question is would they be proud to be called savages, especially in the context in which it was coined. But if they are cool with it, great.
Not a fan of lawyers, but the name and logo together could definitely be offensive, and I’m not even Native American. I think political correctness has certainly gotten out of control overall, but I have to admit I always cringed a little at the combination of Savage paired with an image of...
