It was this week in 1836 that Jim Bowie met his demise at the Alamo. If the legends are to be believed he didn't sell his life cheap and put his combat knife to good use.
I looked to see if this was answered elsewhere, but came up blank.
Background: I am new to the NFA world, having just received my approved Form 4 for a suppressor in a trust, and two approved tax-exempt Form 1's for former braced pistols/SBR's. All of my approvals came as pdf forms via email. I...
Maybe a dumb question. Maybe I am missing something, but....
Does anyone have a clue why eForm 1 submissions can be approved in 60-90 days while eForm 4 submissions take 10 months or more? Is there a difference in the process? Are SBR's and suppressors that are manufactured by the submitter...
A good article, showing exactly why UBC's are a very bad idea:
https://www.shootingwire.com/features/3f5d260a-8f89-41e0-a6c0-c929433f271d
(I checked to see if this was already posted. Also, there is a thread in "Legal" that addresses UBC's, but this doesn't seem to fit the rigid criteria for...
Has anyone played around with the .312 Xtreme Defense 75 gr bullet in the .327 fed magnum using H110/W296 powder? I would think that it would make a great combination, but LeHigh's data only shows loads for this bullet/caliber using Accurate #9, Accurate #7, Alliant 2400, and Longshot.
They do...
I decided to load up some .32 S&W Long target ammo today for the new SP101 in .327.
I can normally crank out about 200 rounds an hour of .45 Colt or .45 ACP using my Lee Classic Turret Press, but today was a chore in so many ways. In fact, it has probably been decades since I have loaded...
I did a build on a Stag Arms stripped lower a couple of years ago, and it has been one of my favorite ARs. When I picked up the lower at the FFL, they were running a special on a no-name 6-position stock with receiver extension, spring, and carbine buffer. It was marked "Mil-Spec".
All has been...
First, I am a complete NFA Noob, so go easy on me.
I am thinking of buying a Hybrid 46, mainly due to its multi-caliber functionality, and only wanting to buy one suppressor to meet most of my needs. I intend to use it on:
300 AAC AR pistol
9mm AR pistol
5.56 AR carbine & pistol
.308 Ruger...
Has anyone seen one in "the wild" yet, or better yet, purchased one? If so, what prices are you seeing and what is your impression? MSRP is $495, wondering if the street price will be less.
I really liked the trigger on my 1952 vintage Remington 721 in .30-06, but the fact that it was subject to recall scared me a bit. I knew that if I sent the rifle to Remington that I probably wouldn't be happy with the end result, based on what I have heard from others.
So, I ordered a Timney...

In tonight's NRA report email. This one actually states that you cannot use TSA locks, which has been the rule forever.
...on my new Ruger Mk IV 22/45 Lite?
Just purchased the new Ruger yesterday, and noticed that the serial number only appears on the upper. No serial number anywhere to be found on the polymer lower (at least not where I can find it). If this is the case, they why is this so different from other...
Just received a new shipment of Fiocchi 38B .38 Special 158 HP ammo.
Unlike the past, where this round was loaded with an exposed lead hollow point it now has a fully jacketed HP.
Does anyone know what bullet is now being used? The jacket is scored 6x, and it looks similar to the DPX with...
I sighted in a new Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle (GSR) today, both with the irons and a Leupold 2.5 LER. All went as expected, using surplus 7.62x51 gave me approx. 3 MOA groups. Transitioned to factory Federal 150 & 180 .308 SP with predictable results and ~2 MOA.
Then decided to try some light...
I hope that the link works, even though I am a subscriber it appears to be public:

There is a new citizenship test that has been recently published. Look at questions 50 & 51:
Right on! The "right to bear arms" is not a right for citizens only, but is a basic human right. It is nice to see this recognized in this way.
Did anyone else just see the "Gun Free Zone" segment on the Half-Hour News Hour?
Great stuff, really made the point. Truly "fair and balanced" in presenting the truth.
We often see post by people talking about their "birth year" guns, but I don't remember a whole thread devoted to the topic.
My birth year is 1956, and I have a Springfield M1 Garand in the 5.9 million range that probably came out of the armory in the second quarter of 1956. I have also been...
I have loaded Trail Boss in .30-30, creating a nice "plinking" load using a 165 gr hard cast FP over 6.9 grains. Probably around 1000-1100 fps, and very accurate.
I have been thinking (always dangerous, I know), that a similar load in .308 Win cases might allow me to get more utility out of...
I have searched here, at 1911forum.com, at Wikipedia, and using Google, but I cannot find the chart that tells you what errors you need to correct based upon bullet position on the target. Does anyone know where is is available, especially for left handed shooters?
I have seen it in the...
