I don't have any answers but as a tech guy myself this is coming whether we like it or not. The...
I recently noticed something on my Baer 1911. I'm not sure if this is an issue or not.
When the barrel is locked UP, she is tight like any other Baer. However, when the barrel is linked DOWN for feeding, it is able to move back and forth in the frame a bit because the hole in the barrel...
The aluminum feed ramp in my Springfield 1911 compact is toast. I really don't shoot it that much but it does get a hollow point cleared and chambered once a day and it has finally had enough. It’s a custom gun so it’s worth fixing for sure. It needs a steel feed ramp.
I searched the...
...This means a $400-$500 or so 90PSI @ 10CFM compressor that I was hoping not to buy to just finish my 1911. I did find a smaller cabinet that *says* it works at 90PSI @ 5CFM. Compressors of that size are much cheaper ($120 or so). Does anybody have any experience with these smaller cabinets...
Hi. I recently purchased an Les Baer P2. Its a wonderful gun and I have really been enjoying it.
Once every five magazines or so, the gun is failing to lock back. The issue seemed to go away when I went to Wilson mags but at my last range visit the gun was also failing to lock back with...
I recently purchased a pre 64 model 94. I am still in the inspection window for the gun.
You'll need to know a bit about lever guns and in particular the model 94 to understand the following:
Everything looks great with one exception. The action closes all of the way, but the small...
I have read quite a bit about these two rifles and I plan to pick up one or the other soon. Another round of opinions beyond what is already posted would be appreciated.
1) People tend to say that Scout Squad is more accurate than the SOCOM. Does anyone have both and can you state by how...
I'm looking into getting a GP100 for a "knocking around" gun. I have a couple of questions:
I have heard that Ruger started puting internal locks in some of their revolvers. Has this infernal thing made its way to the newer GP100s?
Also, is there any difference in quality between newer...
I posted a request for information about finish chipping inside of the aluminum receiver on a Mossberg 500 Mariner a while back to this forum. The chipping occured after only 50 rounds and it appears that forum members believe the issue is uncommon.
I expect a reasonable ammount of finish...
I recently received a Mossberg Mariner 9-shot for Christmas. I took it to the range and it functioned flawlessly for 50 rounds or so.
I did however run into an issue when cleaning the gun. It appears that the marine coat finish is chipping away inside of the receiver. There is chipped...
Can the Wilson "trak-lock 2" ghost ring sights be installed on a Mossberg? It looks like the thumb safety may be in the way. Has anyone tried this setup?
I am a lefty and I am leaning towards a Mossberg 500 mariner for the thumb safety but I don't like Mossberg's factory sights... I also...

I am looking for an oversized trigger that has both an over travel screw and a take up tab.
1) My first choice would have been the Ed Brown's national match trigger. The picture of the Ed Brown in the Brownell's catalog shows that it has a take up tab...
There are several frame holding fixtures available for the 1911. Which ones are recomended?

The Standard Catalog of The Smith and Wesson Second edition states that some early model 60-9 J frames do not have MIM parts.
I spent some time tracking down the 60-9 since its one of the few J frames that can shoot .357s but does not have the dreaded lock.
How can I tell whether my...
...Neither are the tools... :scrutiny:
I cannot find good definitive awnsers to the following questions after much internet searching.
Any *expert* help would be greatly appreciated.
1) The frame will be a Caspian with a Caspian/Wilson beavertail grip safety cut...
Does anyone make a stainless non-full-length (GI) recoil spring guide?
Ed-Brown makes a blue one (part# 882-STD) but he doesn't offer one in stainless.

The sad thing is that most of the full-lengh guide rods are in...
One issue with the 1911 is that when the firing pin is in, the firing pin stop can fall out! While not common, this may cause you to lose your firing pin which would be “bad.”
A good fit on the firing pin stop should prevent this, but I am not sure if I am comfortable with even that...
Hello.
I have decided to waste a whole bunch of money and attempt to build my own 1911. I figure at the very least it will be a learning experience.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum. I have spent some time reviewing the threads here and the tips are great.
First...
Does anyone have any experience with Novak's "Extreme Duty" adjustable sights?
Its says on the Novak website that the sights are drift adustable for windage with a "lockdown set screw." Does this mean the screw loosens the sight so that it can be drifted in the dovetail, or does the sight...
