Hombre,
Funny you should bring this up as I just read about this the other day. I won't spoil your fun, but for a quantitative answer, read 5.16 Rifle Recoil Studies here

Tar.
Find a neighborhood roofing project and grab a small chunk of roofing tar. Dissolve it in chloroform or other solvent (e.g. acetone) and apply. Leaves a very sticky film of zero thickness after carrier evaporates. Poor man's substitute for hydraulic brakes for bikes. Applied to bicycle...
Define "easily fabricated".
FWIW, 30 carbine blanks are commercially made from .223 cases so it's possible to reform more readily available brass into 30 carbine.
Just may not be "easy" or "economical" (for you or your purpose).
The structural cert (AWS D1.1) I had for mild steel of limited thickness used short circuit transfer (GMAW-S). GMAW-S is more than capable of adequately fusing such base metals (Xray qualified). Globular transfer in out of position welding is a nightmare, and spray is such a high heat process...
How short a case can 38spl safely use? What does one do with "short" brass?
I've never seen a minimum case length spec anywhere and case length will determine your OAL for a given bullet
Here's my all-time eureka moment
Reaming round the hole through my revolver's cylinder for the ejector rod to remove the sloppy manufacturing defect I found before, of course, I noticed the rod had a flat side, for a reason!
:cuss:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and when you do fix it...
Lee hand press hands down, so small and versatile, but I don't load 50BMG. The 550B I'm unpackaging today I'm hoping will be a bit faster though
Seems tight too, but with an odd number of lands/grooves, the bores on S&W barrels are a little tricky to measure. You can't just whip out your dial calipers and measure the slug's diameter, directly anyway, after forcing it through the barrel.
Are you using precision shim stock?
As a lifer, I occassionally slip them $10 when I think they are doing a particularly good job, most recently in my mind followed a speech by Wayne L this Spring. When they are just ranting, I ignore them.
How about Uzi (Hebrew name meaning My Power)?
Seriously, I would never curse a child with an "unusual" or unique name in this digital age where privacy is virtually non-existent.
A $2 pair of tiny locking pliers (at either Harbor Freight or Lowes) is a great addition to the Lee trimmer But there's a better way.
Rather than trying to get ALL of my cases THE SAME LENGTH, like I used to do, I just accept the fact my case collection contains all different lengths. So, e.g...
... and where you are going. Check the length of the last piece of brass trimmed to the first or if you are smart check more frequently. These trimmers CAN trim cases "too short"
They used to be made with a "Hardened Steel Stop Pin" which "Will Retain Its Accuracy Forever", but newer packaging...
Actually, it's not straightwalled. If you check the SAAMI cartridge specifications for 30 carbine, you'll find the case has a short "neck" just over a quarter inch long before the taper back to the head begins. I thought my set of Pacific dies was bad as the resized cases had a distinctly...
My Form 4 was finally returned last October with the article THE whited out. Instead of "The Roder Trust" as I submitted on the form, my form was returned with "Roder Trust", but at least the stamp was affixed
What is (are) the case length(s) of the cartridges with light strikes which failed to fire? I would also check your AO's headspace. Although you say that you've "cleaned the gun very well", it's a very small ridge in the chamber which abuts the case mouth, and from here I cannot see how thorough...
