    Gun Shops near Albany NY

I don't know about the transfers, but B&J guns on central ave is a pretty good spot... They have a large inventory (don't know about the Mausers and Mosins). I'm sure if they don't have, they can get. Nice guys to deal with, too. They aren't gun shop snob types.

Long range gun: .308 or 7 rem mag

I linked that for you yesterday (post 19, I believe), what my links no good? LOL! A good friend of mine has a savage .308 setup for "sniperish" duties, actually built by a former trained sniper, and loves it. I can only imagine how fun a .260 would be setup the same way.... And even better that...

Long range gun: .308 or 7 rem mag

Savage is making a few new guns in .260 rem. Click on my link, and type .260 rem into the gun finder search engine on their site, and you will get a list. no custom stuff there, and you can get a target grade .260 rem. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/finder/

Sen Chuck Schumer on "Meet The Press"

And I motion to go further and say for ANY socialist program our government offers up to and including welfare. How is it fair to have to pee in a cup in order to be gainfully employed, but not for a free handout from our wonderful politicians? /rant

Sen Chuck Schumer on "Meet The Press"

Good point, 22-rimfire. One of the problems with living upstate, though, is that we could vote 5 times per election and our votes still wouldn't count towards anything. NYC covers every vote we could make. We are (excuse my pun) out-gunned at the polls.

Sen Chuck Schumer on "Meet The Press"

Thank you for realizing that NY should be two separate states... As upstaters we suffer the wrath of downstate politics and useless policies generated by shortsighted morons. If it weren't home, I would be gone from NY in a short second. (And upstate truly is one of the most beautiful places I...

    ny shall issue

Yeah, when the city breaks free from the mainland, and we get to vote for what WE as upstaters need. But then again that won't ever happen, they need our tax base to support all of their welfare.

Stay away from Marlin 1895 .45-70s...

This thread is full of WIN! Thanks for the laughs guys:D

    The versatile lever action.

I would have to agree here. 336 summed it up pretty well. There is something to be said for the classic levergun. I seem to always grab one when I go shooting. Although the .450 Marlin isn't as easy or cheap to throw lead with as the 30-30...;)

    Another AR question...

Yeah, I figured I wouldn't do much to it, but didn't want to lose any parts or render it useless based on my stupidity. What makes a pre ban model more desirable than a post ban?

    Another AR question...

Thanks Taliv, yeah just a field strip. I don't know anything about 'em, and didn't want to miss or wreck anything in the process.... I know it is a very noobish question, but I recently inherited one, and am trying to learn as much as possible before I jump right in.

    Another AR question...

I was looking for a thread on teardown/rebuild on an AR. Any links would be appreciated. I did search, but came up empty handed. TIA

What sparked your interest in guns?

I was never really interested when I was younger, but my Dad died and left me a bunch of sweet rifles, so now I feel a desire to carry on his passion. And now that I have started... I can't get enough. ;)

    Big Lever Actions

Yeah, I shot a .450 Marlin over the weekend, with regular Hornady run of the mill loads and it was more than I wanted or expected. Kicked like a mule (or two)
