    Finding Lands - Bolt Disassembly

When not using a depth gauge, why is it recommended to remove the extractor and firing pin when finding your lands, yet both are installed when shooting. I've heard/read you don't want anything pushing on the case, but the case will/may be pushed once you reinstall the extractor and firing pin...

    "Match" Powder Measures any better?

RCBS and Redding have "Competition" and "Match" grade powder measures....they are getting close to a Harrells' price, but that's a side point. Does anyone know if these "more-precise" measures are more precise, or easier to throw more consistently than the less expensive RCBS/Redding models...

    100-125gr in 1:8 .260Rem

Does anyone shoot a 100-125 grain from a 1:8 .260 Rem ? Can't seem to find the .260 1:9 twist rates any more, as production guns are now 1:8. Some say you "can't" over-stabalize a bullet...others say it depends on the caliber. I'm not sure what is said about the 6.5 Thank you

    Vise - Specific Purpose

Hey - I am wondering if an import vise such as a Grizzly will work for my very basic need(s)...My only purposes, and I don't see it progressing, is to tighten AR-15 barrel nuts and the stock tube's castle nut. I have read review after review and post after post of these "crummy" imports...

1911 older vs newer price point comparisons

Just curious... Let's say you take a gunbroker Colt 70s Gold Cup National Match at $1,500-$2k+ Where does that 1911 match up to today's price point? My guess is lower since a great value seems to be hard to come by with the power of the internet and owning those Colts may be more for the...

    Pistol Steel Plates

Changed design based on recommendations. Went with 8" and 10" static round targets and hangers that slides on top of a 2x4. I'll build a simple no frills 15' "saw horse" style base and just line up the plates in a row along the "saw horse" -- I'll arrange at multiple heights to spice it up a...

1911 Commander -- the new range length?

I'm looking at either a 5" or 4.25" steel frame 1911 in. 45acp. Based on forum(s) posts a lot of shooters are enjoying the commander size at the range Is the perceived recoil from a steel 4.25" really that much more noticeable than a 5"? Is the 0.75" shortened sight radius on a 4.25"...

    Compressed Loads and Powder Selection

When deciding on a powder to use....should you use a powder whose max load is not compressed before using a powder whose max load IS compressed? For an example.... I have the following: Bullet: Barnes .357 125gr XPB (~.724" long) ( ~.310 of bullet is exposed and OAL 1.585" - Barnes...

    Bullet Weight and Powder grs.

From the same caliber, same powder--why do lighter bullets call for more powder than heavier bullets? .....only thing I can think of is heavier bullets have momentum?? Na, that doesn't seem right

    Ideal MOA

What MOA size do you use for handgun steel reactive targets and/or the steel targets that's setup in a pattern? Sorry for my broad question but my ignorance is overflowing... My wife and I belong to a range that has many steel reactive targets and other metal targets designed in a pattern --...

BHN and better suited for Revolver/Auto

I read a few posts earlier that mentioned BHN 12 and 18 and how one is better suited for a revolver/auto than the other -- so I went to the ulitmate source, wikipedia, heh -- and didn't find anything...I would like to know a little bit more about BHN and its affect on a revolver/auto. Why...

    Press Lube

What do you lube your press with? I may have finally worn away the factory grease/lube because it makes a horrible sound when I raise and lower the handle.....I sprayed some Hornady-1-shot...(all i had) and it didn't do the trick. may need some actual grease or graphite? thanks!

    Federal Primers

I read how some reloaders have their issues with Federal Primers but they sure are a joy to seat.... With Winchester and CCI I grab the other side of my press and brace myself so my chair doesn't roll as I'm trying to seat 'em...heh

    Guide Rod and its Spring

Why would you want to change out the guide rod and guide rod springs --whether it be lighter or heavier? Will a lighter guide rod spring allow the gun to cycle at lighter loads....and a heavier spring will reduce perceived recoil and are more suited for more powerful loads? Is there a...

    G22 G4 9mm Conv Reloading Report w 231

Bullet: MBC 115gr RN (9mm) Powder: 231 Primer: Winchester (if it even matters to ya) 15yds from vise...I'm weak I know. 4.3gr: will not cycle 4.4gr: will cycle ; need to shoot more to determine grouping accuracy 4.5gr: will cycle ; acceptable accuracy for me 4.6gr: will cycle ; best accuracy...

    9mm & min recoill combination

What lead bullet weight and powder combination have you found that provides the least amount of recoil for a 9mm? Right now I'm using MBC 115gr with 231...has a mild recoil -- just wondering about other combinations that would produce less recoil. I've read the saying "heavier bullet, lighter...

    considered a trigger job?

I installed a Ghost 3.5lbs trigger bar on my Glock 10mm. This is my SD gun that comes from the factory with a 5.5lbs trigger. From a legal perspective would this aftermarket trigger bar be considered a "trigger job?" Facts are: 1) trigger components are no longer "factory" 2) aftermarket...

G22 G4 Ghost Trigger bar and Springs

I just installed the Ghost 3.5lbs trigger bar and their lighter springs kit...the trigger does not reset all the way forward so the trigger safety does not set. It does reset enough to fire a following round...just not enough for the trigger safety to engage. I can push the trigger forward...

    Frangible Ammo for SD

Anyone use frangible ammo for SD purposes? Have you ever test fired it to see what it does? I've looked at websites where they fire it thru sheet-rock and etc.... The theory, I guess from my ignorant POV, makes sense -- the energy will disperse into whatever it hits rather than go...
