    Inherited a S&W Model 19-4 and a holster marked only 'Longhorn, 10-22.'

I know about the gun - it's an '81 production 2.5" barrel, round butt 19-4 - but I have no information about the holster. I'm not really a leather aficionado, I'd like to use it for carry but I don't know if it's good enough quality. Does anybody know who made it and if is worth my time...

Independence Day All American Firearms Thread

Once again its time for CmdrSlander's July 4th Firearms thread. In this thread we post pictures of our firearms that are entirely designed and manufactured within the United States of America. But first, read this:

    Lower 48 Pilot's Rifle

So, many of us are probably familiar with the Wild West Guns "Alaskan Copilot" - a .45-70, takedown Marlin lever action intended for bush pilots. In the lower 48, .45-70 is probably a bit much, and the "Copilot" isn't exactly cheap. So what would be a good pilot's survival rifle for those flying...

Nevada Governor Vetoes Universal Background Check Bill

AR15 with Biathlon Bolt Action? (to thwart gun bans)

Almost all the draconian gun bans require that to be even considered for "assault weapon" classification, the rifle must be semiauto. Most stick with semiautos and build modified or featureless rifles. Why not do the opposite? Keep all the ergonomic features that make modern rifles great but...

Who Wants a 1919 M1903 with Pedersen Device Cutout?

Because I found one for $1300 in the gun library at the Kansas City Cabela's. Too much for me as I don't collect 1903s. It looks to be in good shape, but I could not see down the bore (action locked closed by the store). Overall I would say the gun is in 85-90%. The barrel is dated February...

Precision Rifle Competition in Russia (pics)

Pretty interesting. Note that they almost universally select western rifles and equipment. It is also good to see the shooting sports alive and well in foreign lands. Link to complete pictures/article: http://englishrussia.com/2012/11/14/time-to-hit-the-target/

Swiss K31 vs M96 Swedish Mauser

I'm interested in picking up another milsurp and I'd like something that's a good shooter right out of the gate. Given how well both the Swedes and the Swiss built and maintained their rifles, this is true of both the M96 Mauser and the K31. Both use fairly hard to find ammo, both have a...

How Much Would You Pay for Home Delivery of Brand New Guns?

FFL dealers are allowed to conduct transfers outside of their place of business. Envision a dealer that receives guns from out of state sellers/the internet as per usual, then drives around in a van taking them to the buyer's doorsteps and conducting the transfer, including NICS check and...

Where have all the CZs gone?

I can find a variety of autoloading pistols on gunbroker, et. al. but I cannot find any CZ75s except for the decocker models. Why are they so scarce? I know there's a panic on but CZs seem especially scarce right now.

    I Designed a Pistol

I was bored last night and had been kicking around the idea of what I would want in an ideal handgun. Here's what I came up with: -Polymer frame, with rubberized grips. The grips have relief channels that direct sweat and grease clear of the shooter's hand. -CZ-75 clone overall internal...

    Challenging Open Carry Bans

Several communities adjacent to mine ban open carry. The Kansas Libertarian party attempted to sue on 2A grounds but was denied because they could not show harm. My nephew lives there and will soon be 18 - old enough to own a gun but not old enough to get a CCW in Ks. I'm thinking he should...

Given the shortage what's a fair price for .223 brass?

I have a bunch of .223 brass, once fired, mostly Winchester. What's a reasonable price that recognizes the shortage (so higher than pre-shortage) per case if I were to sell it here? ETA: Its been run exclusively through a bolt gun with very mild extraction so that cases are in excellent condition.

"We Need Long Guns!!" - Boston PD

If you were listening to the scanner like I was during the Boston bomber pursuit you likely noticed the officers telling dispatch this over and over. They needed rifles, many officers felt like they could have gotten the bombers sooner had they had them. So my question is: If something like...

What FFL is Required to Build Custom Guns...

I'm getting very interested in building custom M1911s for people, as a side job/hobby and a way to pay for a few pistol smithing courses I plan to take sometime in the future. I'd be using fitted frames and slides from a third party (most likely Caspian) so I won't actually be making guns in the...
