What does all this mean on M1 Garand CMP TAG?

how does 1+ equal exactly 1.2 and how does 8+1.2=12? that math makes no sense to this one. actually none of those figures make any sense to me... and I have to teach Binary math for a living.

What does all this mean on M1 Garand CMP TAG?

it's more of a subjective scale. 0 means brand new, 5 means it's almost a smooth bore. throat means that it's got some wear but not enough that it's going to be an issue. it really doesn't necessarily have to do with the physical diameter.

    Lightest pistol caliber carbine?

that's probably the only thing that I like about the sub2000. I can tell you what isn't as light, highpoints, taurus, and just right carbines. the taurus is probably the heaviest on the market including the much maligned tub of lard Thompson/Kahr 1927 clones. I seem to recall the Beretta CX4...

What does all this mean on M1 Garand CMP TAG?

the barrel being newer than the rifle is neither good or bad. most of the M1s were rebuilt at one time or another and it wasn't uncommon to be rebarreled. I have a 44 manufacture M1 that still received a 52 dated barrel sometime post war. if everything is original and dated to match then you...

What does all this mean on M1 Garand CMP TAG?

the readings for throat and bore erosion. I have heard conflicting reports on whether they are graded on a scale of zero to five or a scale of zero to ten. normally with CMP guns 5 is rare, usually at that point they must be put in the stack for their service special grade or something (new...

What tags did you draw this year?

my state just switched to a new system and the kid at the local sporting goods store didn't know how to work it. I ended up paying for a special draw without actually getting put in for it. I ended up with the usual Whitetail antlered/antlerless and special draw extra antlerless(mule deer or...

    AR9 Options

an I just point out that the JR carbine and AERO are not AR pattern rifles? they look somewhat similar but are completely different beasts. if you don't mind the pricetag, I second the recommendation for mechtech. I recently got to shoot one that was designed to fit 1911 frames. very enjoyable...

Three of the more popular polymer frame pistols...a matter of prospective

I personally hated just about all design features of the M&P. they look cool and ergos are nice but that's about it. glocks are ugly and have horible ergos, but I shoot them well. springfield is and always has been my favorite, although they have been missing the mark with XD-e, I think they...

Ruger Horror Story, Customer Service, and Range Review

I don't count it as a bad ruger experience. I count it as a bad used gun experience. I end up with two types, amazing steals, and bent over a barbed wire fence by bigfoot, there's no in-between. I once bought a type I Arisaka on gunbroker, got it home and found that the stock was split from the...

    Ammo stacking magazines

it seems to me as if most people don't do it because they think it will cause feed issues. the fact of the matter is that if it's a full powered round the slide will always move far enough to the rear to cycle the next round(assuming the weapon is reliable) and as long as it does not have feed...

Ruger Horror Story, Customer Service, and Range Review

agree on not letting them collect dust. like I said I usually shoot 9mms, mostly because of an abundance of 9mm ammo, but also becaause I usually don't get much time to shoot and when I do I'm rushing and so it's easier to grab 100 rounds of 9mm than 45. also I have a larger stockpile of 9mm...

Ruger Horror Story, Customer Service, and Range Review

Hello all, Horror: a while back, through a series of missteps, trades, and snaffoos I ended up with a Ruger SR45. the original owner claimed he had only 100 rounds through the handgun, and when I received it, it only came with a single magazine, again the claim from the original owner was that...

Beretta PX4 Compact VS Sig SP2022

Hello all, I recently acquired two handguns, a Beretta PX4 compact, and a Sig Sp2022. I made a range review of the Sig which is still floating around somewhere here, but today I finally got the chance to shoot the Beretta, as well as do some additionally shooting and comparison with the sig...

    Springfield EMP 9mm magazines?

I do not believe that they will. I think it has something to do with the EMP frame style, springfield sells mags for both as separate models. I will say this that I decided against the EMP because the price was just way too steep but I now own an RO compact and it is amazing. I heavily recommend...

    My Sig SP2022 Range Review

Hello all, by now you've probably seen the other thread I made whining about my poor financial management skills and impulse purchases. well this is the cause for it, a Sig SP2022. the seller was asking a fairly reasonable price and my slightly lower but still upper end of reasonable offer was...

    Striker fired pistols

well I for one see only cons when looking at the remington RP series, they have a lot of issues and I would never own one of my own free will. I do own a Canik TP9SF which is a striker gun with no safety. there is really no pro for me, I learned early on to disengage the safety during a draw, no...

    SCCY CPX/2

probably a person with a few trophies and medals on their mantle. I don't recall ever making any claims about long range shooting I'm saying that without a great deal of practice, and an above average specimen and an above average shooter, it's not the BEST option to try and shoot accurately.
