First time gun owner - gun cleaning

The manual fro Ruger will tell you how to maintain your rifle. They made it, they know. Stick with a modern cleaner and lube, and avoid cult-following lubes which oddly range from space-age technologies to 100-year outdated formulations based on ancient science...

Finally got my Shotgun next steps?

Good it works for you George...I think you touched on the reason a bit: In the outdoor range ppl feel free and open and often forget where their firearms are pointing...

    vintage shot gun project

My advice, since you seem determined to bubbafy old vintage shotguns: cut at 18.5" min based on dowel method described above. Leave no room for contention on the length. Go even a tad longer so when the cut is filed (or properly squared and crowned by a smith) you don't run the risk of ending...

    Remington authorized repair center

This is true enlightenment! mjsdwash, that's what i feel uncomfortable judging, the roundness of the peen and the height of that little dome, i.e. is there enough meat. As far as being secure, it is. One thing I haven't thought about doing is consulting my old Kunhausen manual - duh. But...

    Remington authorized repair center

Gunsmiths in Wisconsin are quite rare (the real ones you mention.). I would like someone who is Remington certified to assess the repair done by Gander's gunsmith to make sure its within spec. The rivet was not changed out, and maybe that's ok, but I'd like to be sure and have a new rivet...

    Remington authorized repair center

Oh yes, JD from AI&P! Great fellow! I exchanged emails with him a few months back and he told me that he's not in the individual repair business. He was kind enough to entertain my query but suggested I go to a Remington authorized repair center. The question remains: is there a repair...

    Remington authorized repair center

Thanks, Old Shooter...that would be Ahlmans in MN. Just asking for people's experiences with the quality of repairs at their repair center of choice. I'm hoping my fellow forumites can help me avoid another miserable experience. Thanks again!

    Remington authorized repair center

Hello to all members: Years ago, after my 870P failed after a measly 50 rounds, I took it to a local repair shop, the now thankfully deceased Gander Mountain. The ejector spring had come loose. The repair shop re-peened the existing rivet, while taking little care to protect the polished blue...

    New 870

this new Remington 870 is not an innovation...Atis Armi, out of Val Trompia in northern Italy, came up with a detachable mag 12 gauge for US sales, this was back in the early to mid nineties, it just looked a lot better than the Remington copycat. It did not catch on apparently because, it was...

    Mossberg 590 A1 rust?

Meant to add, go ahead with the advice you've received to remove the stain in the chamber, it all sounds good to me. My technique is to pool some Flitz on, let sit, then wipe...it will work I promise you, and it will save your park. Might take a few sessions, but it will work

    Mossberg 590 A1 rust?

Have you kept a round in the chamber for a while? I did that once, came back after a number of years abroad, and the steel casing (only looks like brass) got stuck to the chamber. Meaning, that might be rust from the shell you had in there, and not the chamber itself rusting. Look at the...

    Trusted Hot Bluer in WI

Unfortunately our fair state is a wasteland when it comes to any gunsmithing. would sooner send to Ahlmans in MN than trust anyone here. Maybe there is a hidden gem somewhere.

    Member Kruzr has passed

Thank you, Larry. Kruzr like many of us was a transferee when the Firing Line went down a while ago. He continued posting on the High Road even after the FL came back online. Lots of good advice from him, and always a gentleman. Condolences to his family.

    Break Free CLP ?

I guess I'm in the minority but I find that Break Free seems to improve with every new formulation. However Safariland moved from all syn PAO basestock to semi synthetic, and there's no way of knowing if that affects the lubricating properties...
