I just picked up an H&R knife revolver to go with my Iver Johnson with the Borne knuckle duster. Anyone else out there in highroad land have anything similar?
I'd like to get an Apache or Deleaxhe if I could afford one.
Here are the rules: NO double action revolvers. ONLY spur triggers. Preferably from the golden age of the Suicide Special from 1870 to the late 1800s.
Here's a good guideline from Ed Buffaloe's article on the unblinking eye website
The term “suicide special” was coined by Duncan McConnell in...
Since I'm not getting any responses on the two other forums where H&R collectors are, I thought I'd try here at the good old THR forum to see if anyone here knows anything about H&Rs.
I have a pretty good knowledge and have Goforth's book but I've never run into one of these. Here's my post I...
I'd like to see how many other members have "Avenging Angel" revolvers. I have owned quite a few that I've built myself and would like to see other members customizations and have this be a place to share ideas, photos and videos of these interesting guns.
Here's a few that I have made over...
This is a gun I've wanted for many years and finally was able to work out a trade for one. One of the very first Colt automatics. Designed by John Browning. The only earlier Colt auto was the model 1900 which was very similar to this.
I'm developing a bit of an obsession with these things. Here's the two I currently have. The one with the plain cylinder is Belgian I believe. The one with the fluted cylinder is American made. I have lost my book on Bulldogs and just ordered another one so I should be able to get a little more...
I now have three of these things after buying one with serial number 44444 that I just couldn't pass up. These are such great guns.
1922, 1920 and 1904
I shot it this weekend and it shoots great. Hit the can every time.
Someone posted a thread a while back on black powder cap and ball revolvers. Its too old to reply to so I thought I'd start another one. Maybe I've already done this...not sure. But I really like these things and would like to get ideas on other types of revolvers you folks have cut down...
The date code puts this one at 1986. I like that it has "Colts Patent" on the cylinder rather than "Patent No." I assume Colt made them stop putting colt on there at some point. I also kind of like how they mimicked the colt name on the frame only with the Uberti name. Interesting. Overall I...
This is one of the guns I won at the Poulin Auction. Really cool and as well made as any Colt. I think it's definitely the most well made gun that H&R ever produced. I'm surprised it came out the same factory as all of those cheap top breaks.
From what I have researched so far these were made...
Just picked this up at Cabelas for $449. It cleaned up really nice. I should have taken a before shot of it. The old nickel was really dull and almost white. A little Flitz gave it new life I think
Here it is with my blue .38 MH. This one has two barrels with matching numbers
I couldn't find a photo thread of snubnose revolvers here so I thought I would start one.
1908 police Positive with a Bankers Special barrel
A Colt Army Special that I Fitzed a while ago. Sold this one.
Police Positive Special cut down to 1 1/4". (Colt actually made at least...
I've wanted one of these since I saw the gangsters hand one to Gabriel Byrne to shoot John Turturo in Millers Crossing. Got this one in trade for some Gunsmithing work.
First a couple scenes from Millers Crossing
This one was made in 1940 apparently
Any other Astra fans...
Ever since I bought a S&W baby Russian earlier in the summer I've been thinking about this Pepperbox that was next to it. And ever since I was a kid and played the game "Clue" I've wanted one. This is what I once thought a "revolver" was and I guess technically it is.
Anyway, I happened by the...
I saw this one on Gunbroker and needed to make a bid on it. It looked to be in excellent shape and a snubnose to boot. I received it today and I wasn't disappointed. Nice and tight with most of the original nickel intact. I cleaned up the bore and chambers and the chambers are clean and the bore...
I picked this up at Cabelas today. It had been sitting there watching me for a few months. I finally decided I needed to have it. The first Browning automatic pistol and the first pistol to use a slide. Also I believe the first pistol ever chambered in what is now known as the .32 ACP. I love...
