    Production date of an M1?

I just bought my first M1 Garand, and man is she a beaut! I'd like to find out the production date of it, but am coming up empty on my web searches. It's a Springfield Armory, with a serial number 10099xxx. **edited** I just found this link that goes to this PDF. Looks like mine is a...

Slide not locking back on last round: STI Spartan

I haven't posted anything here for a while because my guns have pretty much been running well. But now, something new came up. This is a relatively new (<2k rounds) STI Spartan. I'm using Wilson 8 round mags that have many, many rounds on them, but I just installed brand new ISMI springs...

Need feedback re Innovative Tactical Concepts

I'm looking at taking the "Advanced Pistol Fighting" course from Innovative Tactical Concepts this fall. It would probably be my one training opportunity this year since they will be travelling local to me. Has anyone heard of this company before? Anyone taken one of their classes?

    STI Spartan - Review

I was able to get in on the FBMG group buy not too long ago and picked up an STI Spartan. This is going to be kind of a bullet-point review. If anyone would like more detail on something I'll try to provide it. I was able to get it to the range last weekend and test it out a bit. First off...

How far with the BATFE go...

... to squash someone with a supressor for an AIR RIFLE? 'Embarrassed' Gun Suspect Sues Microsoft After FBI Finds Sex Videos On His PC They sure are sensitive about their prescious ban on supressors aren't they. :uhoh: :scrutiny: :cuss:

    Trim-to-length... how critical?

I just got a Lyman trimmer and have been working on a batch of .308 brass. How critical is it to stay at or above the trim-to-length of 2.005? If I get some that are at 2.000 am I risking a kaboom? FWIW, it seems like I get more consistent results when I use the hand crank versus the drill...

Officer's Gun Play May Force Milwaukee to Pay

This from a paper that so often tells us that "average citizens" can't be trusted with guns... Hmmmph! :cuss: And the worst part about it is that the "average citizen" is footing the bill for these clowns. From the Journal Sentinel:

Time yet for a Knob Creek thread?

Its been about 4 years since I made it to my first machine gun shoot. Plans are coming together for me and a friend to be there in a few weeks. Anyone else planning on attending this fall's shoot?

Getting powder in a .223 case

I've found that filling my .223 cases with powder is kind of difficult when just using the pan from my scale (a Dillon balance beam). I've heard of things called "powder drops" (or something), but never seen one in a catalog or store. Any recommendations out there for getting all of the powder...

Part # for Wilson 47D spring?

I'm looking to replace the magazine spring in all of my Wilson 47D's. The only thing I could find on Brownell's was this part # 969-714-630. Can anyone confirm if this is the correct replacement spring? (I need to keep these as 8-rounders for USPSA single-stack division.)

Best price on M1A USGI Bolt?

I need to find some sources for USGI M1A bolts. Already checked Fulton Armory and they seem pretty expensive. Any other sources out there?

    F-Class

For 20 rounds at 600 yards, what would be a respectable score shooting in F-Class? I think I've seen scores posted by the top shooters of something like 200-19x or even 20x... but how about for a new person?

(WISC) State v Fisher - audio link

Anyone interested in the state of concealed carry in WI should take the time to listen to this argument currently before the WISC. Its in streaming audio, and its about an hour and 20 minutes in length. Link to WI SC website The short version is that the lawyer for Fisher really hit a...

    "in the white"?

This is probably a dumb question... but what does "in the white" mean exactly? I'm looking at buying a Les Baer frame and slide combo and the ad says "in the white".

    S&W .357 models question

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the model 19 and a 586? At least I think it was a 586... It was blue'd, had a 4 inch barrel, and looked virtually identical to my 4" blue'd model 19. Is the 586 maybe an L frame versus the 19 K frame?

Can you identify this Glock part?

A friend of a friend gave me this part. He asked if I would check around to see if was an aftermarket part or not. Either way, it sounds like he's already replaced it. Supposedly it came out of a Glock 22.

    RIA - more breakage

I was shooting my Rock Island tonight and lost the front site. :cuss: I thought I'd pretty much replaced everything that could have broken on this thing already. Guess I was proven wrong. Are these soldered in? Even for such a simple site, I think its beyond my ability and tools to fix...

    You'll beat up your gun...

"You'll beat up your gun..." - Ever since buying my first revolvers a couple months ago, I can't believe how many times I've heard that phrase. I've got a S&W model 19 4" and a 629 Classic 5". After reading more about the M19, I guess I can understand: practice with .38's and carry .357's...

Range Report: SA Loaded vs SA Mil-Spec

I recently aquired two brand new 1911's: a Springfield Armory "Loaded" model and a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec model (not the GI). After cleaning the factory lube/grease off of them and re-lubing with LSA, I took them both to the range last night. Loaded Model Fit and finish are very good...

    1911 Barrel Bushing - broke

Well, I kind of lost count how many rounds I've got through this RIA now... must be between 6 & 7k. The latest part to break was the barrel bushing. I was shooting some (IDPA) headshots at 10 yards and all of a sudden I saw my recoil spring fly out! Major bummer since I've got a match coming...
