Been using my Lee Breechlock press for a number of years and just ventured into loading 380 Got everything dialed in and some of brass comes out of the powder through expanding die with a smiley face cut on the case mouth. The part that's cut folds over into the mouth. I've had this happen a...
In 10 years of owning my Competition Electronics Pro Chronograph, I've never had an incident with it. But after dropping it twice in one week on solid ground while at the range, I started getting some weird FPS numbers. Not with every shot but 3 or 4 in a string of 10. The numbers which I...
...that even though the round passes the plunk test, the COL is a tad too long to effectively load in the magazine! I have a newly acquired Star PD and am loading 200 grain coated SWC. The mag is a factory mag that holds 6 rounds. But only 3 rounds would load before everything came to a halt...
...won't expand/bell the case mouth. I load 45LC, 38 Spcl, and 9's. Nary a problem. As I just bought a 45 semi I want to reload for it. Set up the die on my Lee breechlock press and was ready to do business. But as I raise the ram to insert the casing into the die it's like the casing hits a...
Just bought a Star PD 45 acp from them yesterday via online search and phone call. The lady was very helpful. I'll pick it up from my FFL here in Reno on Tuesday. I've read their google reviews but know that "used is used" and there is some risk. Any thoughts or experiences? Seems like a...
I got sloppy the other day and loaded a couple of 9mm rounds that didn't feel quite right going in on my Lee single stage press. The result was 2 "perfectly wobbly" rounds. They are as wobbly as the day is long. But it prompted me to check on Youtube. No videos on pistol load runout but a bunch...
This is my first venture into loading FMJ 135 bullets. I have the Lee book and have noted the listings for 135 jacketed and the powders I have.
My question: Given equal bullet weights, are jacketed bullets loaded a tad hotter than lead? It seems like I've heard/read this before.
...do you prefer to shoot: 115's or 125's or 145's? Mainly thinking in terms of plinking or target shooting. I have 2 Rugers, a Max-9 and a EC9S. I've loaded all 3 bullets and haven't decided a definite winner.
A #5 4.6 grains auto disk #30 850 fps
Bullseye 3.2 grains auto disk #34 850 fps
HP38 3.4 grains auto disk #32 860 fps
7625 3.7 grains auto disk #40 870 fps
COL is 1.116 which allows for a successful plunk test. No tumblers or flyers and accuracy was nice. Recoil very acceptable.
These 4 loads...
A friend gave me 1000 38 spcl bullets that he has had for a long time. The lube looks to be dried out but is in place, no gaps or missing chunks. Can I still load these or should I give them a little help by dabbing some lube on them at the time of loading? If I need to dab some lube what...
A friend gave me two 500ct boxes of 158 gr 38 spcl SWC lead projectiles made by 3D Bullets. Looks like the company is no longer in business. Anybody ever load/shoot their products? The lube, a yellow color, looks dried out. He doesn't recall how he obtained these. Must have had them for quite...
Recently picked up 2 used long guns: Remington nylon 66 and a Revelation 150 Western Auto made by Marlin (actually a Marlin 49). Haven't been out plinking with them yet due to fire restrictions and the crazy smoke drifting in from California.
Bought some SK semi-auto rounds and SK rifle match...
