.223/5.56 heavy bullet subsonic load data

I've done a few searches, but just didn't find what I'm looking for. I will be putting together some sub-sonic loads for my AR, 1:7 twist, using 80gr tipped bullets. Published data for this is pretty scarce from what I've been able to find. I'm thinking I'll be needing something in the slow...

    Fast .44 180gr. loads..

Thanks for replies.. Wish I could find some 2400.. Powder supplies have been fairly good around here, but 2400 has vanished. Even found a guy with Accurate, but no #9.. Wonder how AA 4100 would do. Herco will make a decent load, but peaks out well before it hits the kind of speed I'm looking for.

    Fast .44 180gr. loads..

I'm sure this has been visited before.. But my searches haven't turned up anything very useful., The load manuals are pretty thin with regard to 180gr. .44 mag data. Anyway, I'm looking for some loads for a hot 180 gr. JHP from a carbine barrel. - If for nothing other than smacking the sh*% out...

    Nickel Plating Revolver?

Thanks folks.. Glad I posted this. All good experienced feedback and ideas.. Will do what the budget offers along with how this finish wears, or wears on me. Thanks...

    Nickel Plating Revolver?

That's a pretty gun!.. I'm wasn't so much looking for a bright nickel finish necessarily, just that it seems like a more attractive alternative to the matte black. I'd be OK with a satin or dull finish if it were of a stainless or nickel appearance . Mahovsky's offers an inexpensive EN nickel...

    Nickel Plating Revolver?

Recently picked up a new Taurus M66. I had ordered this inline, and thought I was getting a 'blued' revolver. Turns out it is 'matte black'. Sort of a bead blasted version of a blued finish. It's OK for now, but I was wondering about getting it electroless nickeled at some point. My questions...

    Powers for 44spl and 44mag

I consider the .44 mag pretty darn easy to feed with regard to powders.. While rifle rounds, like .223 are more sensitive to bullet weight/powder choice, big bore straight wall pistol rounds like the .44 are much more flexible in that regard. Top end loads, from light 180 gr, JHP's to heavy...

Need Help With ID of Winchester 94 AE .44 Mag Rifle 24" BBL

That could be my old rifle!.. Seriously, I used to have one, in .357 too. $358 is a steal no matter what!. I sold if off - for some stupid reason.. Probably had my heart set on something else I needed the trade $ for. I thought the metal finish on mine was below average, and I'd bought it...

    Best additive for corn media?..

...And another one comes out of the closet. Man, I'm start to wonder if maybe those of us that don't wash our media are the weird ones. Ha!.. It was kind of an experiment.. The crud that floated off was pretty awful.. Probably fairly toxic to boot. Just had to try it.

    Best additive for corn media?..

Excellent.. awesome.. Yeah, my media is waaayy past dirty. Being cheap, I even washed it once with water & detergent in a bucket. It took many days in the summer sun to dry out. It did bring it back to life for a while though!.. I do use the used dryer sheets - those help a lot.

    Best additive for corn media?..

I've no doubt this has been covered or explored many times, but my searches aren't really coming up with a direct hit.. I've always used 'treated' corn cob media (dry vibratory tumbler). I can get a good deal on untreated corn media; what is the best way to 'treat' it? I see Nu-Finish...

    Anyone else soured on .22lr?

Not soured, but pissed.. Mostly at the SOB hoarders that keep this nonsense continuing in perpetuity.. Yes, I can and do reload 9mm at the same or less price than what you can find .22 these days.. like $6/50 if you're lucky??!! Choke on it!.. No, I didn't 'see the future'.. and buy up a...

hand loading_is it just a man thing

That's kind of an interesting question, really.. Like GLOOB, above, I'd certainly have to guess overwhelming majority men.. It's rare enough for me to encounter women who are actually into guns, let alone reloading. In fact it's extremely rare to find anyone that reloads in real life! Unless...

Powders I have and some not used yet

Benchmark: Excellent in .223, I love it for 50 & 40 gr bullets - top velocity & accurate.. Varget: very versatile.. heavier bullets in .223 & I use it in 7x57 Mauser.. Bullseye: Any straight wall pistol round, really. Maybe not top end loads, but just great for most 380acp, 9mm, 45acp standard...

1858 Base Pin Wear - Common?

Thanks for the input so far guys. BTW the gun has never been shot without lube of some kind. I've used Bore Butter, light gun oil, and lately RIG grease. I've not re-lubed during any shooting session however. Also maybe just not enough in the first place. My digital camera crapped out on me...

1858 Base Pin Wear - Common?

I have a Pietta 1858 Remington - my first foray into BP revolvers. The base pin is milled flat on the bottom to allow for the retention screw. Mine looks like it's nearly half, maybe 40% milled away. I can't help but think this contributes to the fouling jamming in there and quickly causing some...

    303 British Powder Choice

Accurate 2520 under 180gr. RN (Core Lokt, back when one could actually find those) was the best combo for me ever in the .303 Brit. Top velocities and great accuracy. RL-15 looks great on paper, and I have some loaded up with Speer 174's, but haven't been to the range yet with those.

Simple powder measures.. handgun brass ?

Thanks guys for all the replies. THR is the best.. incidentally, I have an adjustable brass measure on the way. I was trying to improvise something quickly for a little camping trip with my son, and to make some noise on the 4th.. Anyway it all worked out, and I know a good deal more now than...

Simple powder measures.. handgun brass ?

OK.. does anyone know what a 9mm, 38 spcl., .44 Mag., 45 acp will hold of Pyrodex-P?...

Simple powder measures.. handgun brass ?

I know BP and equivalents are measured by volume. I know smokeless is measured by weight. I've been reloading smokeless for over 20 years. My ? was, if I have no convenient volume measure, how might I go about getting a handle on measuring a given quantity of Pyrodex-P with only a scale...
