Up to now I have been reloading for 9mm and .45ACP Semi-Auto. Starting to work on loads for a .38 Spl. revolver. Will be used just for target shooting, so looking for advice on best (in your opinion) weight and type of bullet. Lead is out because the range I go to is indoor and does not allow...
They do look good. Being a tightwad, I just used a Sharpie to mark a + on one side and a - on the other side of the block the adjustment bolt goes into. Works for me. To each his own. :)
I have an electronic scale and when I put powder in the cup, I wait about 10 seconds or so just to make sure it does not change. Ya, I know, that makes things even slower. Ok with me. I only do about 200 rounds a week. Do plan on getting a balance beam scale just to double check. Santa might...
I'm with Potatohead...I find hand measuring very relaxing. I am in no hurry to produce hundreds of rounds. It teaches patience...something I am in short supply of in many cases.
:cuss:
I have a chance to get some powder, but need some input before I make the decision. I am reloading for a 9mm XD9 and use 115gr to 147gr jacketed and plated bullets. The powders are: Titewad (not Titegroup), Longshot, PB, and AA#5. Any of these worth getting?
Managed to pick up some Unique powder today. Need some good plinking load data. Lyman's 49 only has data for JHP. I am using Montana Gold 124gr CMJ in my 9mm. From what I can see, loads start about 4.5 and go up to 6.2.
Used up all my 115gr. FMJ, so an now using Montana Gold 124gr CMJ. I know Blue Dot is not the best powder for 9mm, but I have some and want to use it up. When I look for data on 124gr and Blue Dot, the figures are all over the map!. Even Alliant had basically the same load for 115gr FMJ and...
The seating issue is what confuses me the most. I have a Dillon Square Deal B. Comes set from the factory for 9mm. I thought that it would seat any bullet to the same depth no matter what. Difference in the OAL would come from the difference in the length of the bullet used. My Winchester 115gr...
Loading for an XD-9. So I guess as long as I am using the same seating depth for each, the OAL is not that big of a deal since the variation is rather small.
Am using two different bullets: Winchester 115gr FMJ that is .594 from tip to base and Montana Gold 115gr FMJ that is .563 from tip to base. This causes the OAL to change from 1.158 on the Winchester to 1.146 on the MG. Both go on top of 4.7gr of Bullseye powder. Both OAL's are within specs. My...
Only bought the Blue Dot because it is almost impossible to get powder around here (Northern CA). Had seen it on various data lists, so thought I would try it. If I had my druthers, I would use something else. Made some loads up and will see what happens Saturday. Started at the low end, so...
Managed to get my hands on some Blue Dot powder. Am loading for an XD-9 using Winchester 115gr FMJ or Montana Gold 115gr FMJ. Now, the more I read, this does not seem like a good powder to use. Min and Max loads are all over the charts depending on which book you look at. Mins go from 6.8 to 7.2...
