Girlfriend wants to get CHL!! Please suggest some guns and carry rigs...

In Texas, you have to qualify with either a semi auto or revolver (.32 & up). Qualifing with a semi auto allows you to carry anything you want (SA Stamp). The NSA stamp (Non Semi Auto) pretty much restricts you to revolvers. So here, to get the CHL, I'd say get qualified with the semi auto...

    .25ACP vs. .50AE

Well, considering you can carry a concealed .25 Berretta around in nothing more that a bathing suit - I'd say the .25 is the best CCW choice. Unless your normal attire is that like of "Bozo the Clown" (or I suppose some baggy pants "Rapper") - a .50 caliber "anything" is going to be a hassel...

lightweight and inexpensive semi auto for ccw

Actually, I was looking for a "None Of The Above" selection. But of the choices indicated - I'd say the Star. Unfortunatally - they are no longer in production (or at least no longer imported to the U.S.). Fortunatally - there are quite a few out there used that can be had pretty cheap. Star...

Is the "Elite" Kahr worth the cost?

NO!!!! If you want a reliable, accurate, powerful & compact self defense handgun - get a S&W 642 .38Spl +P. You can get one new for under $400. If you have money to burn and time to spend hours at the range breaking in and practicing - go ahead and get the Kahr. If you want a reliable...

The best defensive handgun nfor civilians ...

I'd agree that if I could only have one handgun - it would likely be a medium frame 38/357. Very versitile all around handgun. But when it's 95 degrees, 85% humidity, wearing a polo shirt & dockers - a snag free light J frame 38 is a lot more "convenient" to carry around.

    Mouse guns

Baretta 950 BS. About 10 ounces and will fit in the palm of the hand. Load with .25acp with Hornaday EXP hollow points. Decent velocity. Good cutting surface on bullet face. If it penetrates it will expand. If it does'nt - the sharp bullet face will "BITE" rather than bounce off of a hard...

Revolver grips -- which to choose?

Mastrogiacomo , If you are thinking of getting a SP101 DAO - you will positivly want to go with Hogue grips. Why? Because at some point you will be tempted to shoot full power .357's through it. Once you handle one - you'll know it begs to be fed "grown up" .357's. The factory grips are...

    Summer CCW .357?

Shootist, I live in the same neck of the woods as you. You really carry such a big hoss of a pistol in the summer months around here? Well, power to you brother. I'm just too thin skinned & lazy to put up with the cover garments & rigs required to carry large handguns in this climate...

Revolver grips -- which to choose?

To tell the truth - I voted before I even read what kind of handgun they would go on. I'm really THAT big a fan of Hogue grips - I've retrofitted them on many of my handguns. That said though, Mastrogiacomo (just casually viewing some of your posts), I still think you would like the Hogue...

North American Arms 22MS ?? Leo opinion

Contact Smith & Wesson. They are the largest provider of handguns to Police agencies over the last 100 years - bar none. Second would be Glock. Third maybe SIG or Beretta - Colt if you go way back. NAA and Taurus may be on the list of "guns you MAY have for off duty carry" - but I'll bet...

    Mouse (sized) guns - pics!

No pictures (everyone's seen them anyway), but the ultimate "mouse guns" are (in order): * Beretta 950BS (.25ACP) * Kel Tec P-32 (.32ACP) * Kel Tec P3AT (.380ACP) Honerable mention to NAA guns (most varities) and really old Colts & Brownings. Anything greater than 12 ounces and unable...

    I'm Done (almost)

nero45acp Well, you've certainly got every handgun you will ever NEED. Now it's time to work on whatever handguns you WANT!!! In the words of Gus McCray - "life is short - shorter for some than others". It's time to start collecting those "toys" you want.

    Any Pocket Carry Anti's?

it's probably more of a geographical thing. Where I live there are two seasons - really hot & humid - and not so hot and humid. When typical attire is shorts & a tee shirt (or really dressed up with a polo shirt & dockers) - pocket carry is very appealing. I wear a heavy cover garment maybe...

.22 Short VS .22 Long Rifle

I agree with P95Carry. Get the one with the .22mag & .22LR interchangable cylinders. That will shoot any .22 rimfire made. I don't know if I've seen .22 Shorts or even .22 Longs for many years. Are they even still made?

What is a West German SIG?

There was an outfit by the name of Sig-Sauer & Sons of West Germany. I've heard there is no relation to the SIG Arms firearms in production today. Best as I can determine, they were imported to the U.S. in the 1960's & 70's. I've not seen many around - certainly no new ones - so I assume they...

    Looking for compact handgun

I'd agree with Swamprabbit. The S&W642 is going to be your best bet for a really small. light, compact, relaible, easy to draw from concealment, safe to handle, simple to operate under stress yet powerful handgun you can get. And currently you can get them most anywhere in the country for...

    Cheap .22lr auto

The previous posts are all good advice. There are a vast number of high quality, major brand .22 handguns out there that can be had new for under $400 (much less in most cases - and especially if you look for used major brands). Personally, I think a .22 is one caliber of handgun you should...

    What about the PT92?

Well, the Environmentalist tell us that we shouldn't throw away plastics because they last for thousands of years. So I'd have to assume that plastics are pretty durable. Safetys on handguns are largely appeasments to government bureaucrates. So if you can pull the thing off and it still...
